Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Gengar Matchups

Usually 3 things - Each deck's build, number of Unown G run, and what sort of start each deck gets. The skill of each player has less of an effect that those.

Gengar! Lol but the skill of the player does matter. Gengar isn't a deck you can just pick up and win with. It's not the hardest deck to learn to play, and anyone can flip heads, but what do you do when your opponent doesn't have any trainers in their hand and no pokemon with powers? What now? You have to know how to work with the deck in those situations.

Ditto is a very good tech to improve both the mirror and the flygon matchups

Gengar has colorless resistance, so it wouldn't help much in the mirror matchup.

When you are playing the mirror match with Gengar, you have to go for their bench and play your Looker's strategically. Don't let them set up Unown G.

It depends on what is run. I personally think Gengar/Crobat is ridiculously bad to have won any BR's, but there are other varients.

The player who can get set up and plays at least 2 unown G should probably win but there are some tricks that can let the better player win.

How does resistance matter if Ditto is placing damage counters?

In a Gengar mirror Fainting Spell isn't really used. It depends on the varient.

The Unown G count is not the deciding point of the match. If you play none then it does but if its two vs. three, it probably won't matter.

Why would it not matter? If Gengar A can Guard 3 of their Gengars, or 2 and their Claydol, and Gengar B can only Guard 2 of their Gengars, or 1 and their Claydol, Gengar A is going to have a definite advantage.

The player who is able to get the most Shadow Room KOs is probably going to be the one who comes out on top. Thus, the amount of Unown G that each deck runs is very much a deciding factor in who wins.
