Yeah, I didn't like the diverse energy setup, but call is needed, as is warp energy. Updated list, will have more of a fix in a bit.

Woot, another San Diego player! Which league do you plan on going to?

Also, the deck seems pretty solid, but I would change this:
Supporter-

-3 Cheerleaders Cheer
-2 Underground Expedidtion

+2 Looker's Investigation
+2 Professor Oak's New Theory
+1 Pokemon Communication

I'm not a fan of Cheerleader's Cheer since it gives your opponent a +1 in their hand..
And I suggested Communication just in case you have the off chance of having pokemon, but nothing to lock your opponent.

I would say -1 Pokemon Collector, since 4 of that and Call Energy seem a bit much, but I'm not sure what would be a good fit.

I really like Copy Cat over PONT in this deck, just as another plus of locking your opponent. Also, another benefit of Looker's is possibly shuffling your opponents hand back, trying to give them more trainers etc.

Personally I think 4 call is too much. I know a lot of people want four call to make sure they get it turn one to start filling the bench, but after that it's not going to help. So I would take out one call and add one warp which will help later if Plume is bright looked up.

My other reason on the call is you really want to start using darkness grace as soon as possible, not keep calling.

Also, I would try to find a way to go 2-2-2 plume and take out one Rare Candy, since the candies are just in case.

So IMO
-1 Call
+1 Warp
+1 Gloom
-1 Candy

It seems that everyone in advocating Call NRG. However, I am sceptical. This list plays 12 basics 8 of them lock. That is something like an 80% chance of a lock start. (66% if 1 basic + chances of 2 basics, +3 etc.+redaw on 0 basics). Maybe some math wiz can do the actual math.

My build runs 8 lockers and 6 non-lockers. This was my results. 44 T0 lock, 2 T1(1st), 5 T1(2nd), 1 No lock.

Call only helps with Tomb start without Oddish or Gastly benched. With Gastly, you MUST pitch dark. With Tomb and either Oddish or Gastly you must darkness grace. The other time call may help is if the bench is evolved and you decide to strengthen the bench before going on the offensive. (Chatter Lock comes to mind but this deck should be playing warp nrg). I just don't see the odds of - (Tomb + Call) - (no oddish or gastly) worth giving up the deck space for call.

Why does call seem to be such popular play? How often do you find yourself actually using it?

Try putting in some Cyrus Initiative...it is amazing at enabling you to maintain your trainer lock as well as keep thier hands full of unusable trainers for your poltergeist attacks. It is really good mid and end game.

Wouldn't anyone that runs a Umbreon UD (Moonlight Fang) completely wreck this deck because it couldn't just keep Moonlight Fanging you and you won't be able to hurt it?

Not really, Because you wouldn't have to attack the umbreon. If your refering to an umbreon tech in a SP deck atleast. Because so many SP pokemon, and Azelf, uxie, etc have pokepowers so you can snipe for 60 dmg on these targets with your gengar, and just 'bypass' the umbreon. Also some are playing Miasma valley. So whenever you play your pokemon that arent grass and psychic they have to put 2 damage counters on them. Then when the gengar snipe comes theyre dead.

Yes. Copycat is a great supporter for drawing in this deck. Also, remember not to add that many trainers, because you will be stuck yourself. Also, 4 Call Energies is too much for this deck. Try 2 or 3 ( I use one). Good luck with this deck, it has great potential.
