Giratina Basics....

Recently my son got turned on to Giratina and Giratina Lv X. Specifically sending things to the lost zone. Can anyone suggest things that are good with this Pokemon. Is there any such thing as a Giratina deck? I could use some help here. Thank you in advance.

Even just a link to an example would be good.

With Gallade 4 LVX you can spred 10 damage to each of your opponents pokemon when you lv up your active Gallade 4. Poketurn it a couple of times, mabey us Spirittomb LA's body to spread even more, then use Gallade 4's attack to spread even MORE. Once you have a big spread going you can switch out for girintina LVX and do 30 to every pokemon and If they get knocked out they go into the lost zone.
Heres some links

Gallade [4] Gallade [4] LvX
Giratina 027 Giratina LvX
Spiritomb

I don't know if it will even work well but Omastar MD and Metagross SV.
Devolve the pokemon, SSU perhaps if you are lucky and need to devo Stage 2's.
Metagross reduces HP of the basics, making a few of them OHKO's for Giratina.

I played the deck from platinum through this season's BR and have always done well with the deck, top cutting and even taking first recently.

The thing is that spread is pretty screwed over right now due to things like Nidoqueen and Blissey and Garchomp C. Someone actually pmed me the other day for my last list and help and afterwards it got me and a friend thinkking about it. I'd recently tried it with Ex Belt but it didnt work over very well, then I tried it with DCE but it didnt work very well either. But then we got talking and I drug everything back out, scrapped everything I thought I knew about Giratina and forced myself to rethink teh whole deck.

What I came up with is severely brutal, well rounded, consistent and ridiculously fun :3

It's possible to make a Giratina deck functional, but it's in no way easy and I highly advise not making it a pure spread deck if you're playing it in masters

think the best way to run giratina is in some sort of spread deck and i think she is more layable with double colorless back in format

You could run 1 Giratina Lv. X, 2 Giratina with Broken-Space Blow, and 1 Let Loose Giratina. Broken-Space Blow can be crippling, as you can permanently remove a Nidoqueen from play with Blowers/Reversal, Expert Belt, and Lake Boundary/Lucario GL.

You managed to do an "All About Me" profile of yourself and didn't really help the original poster much at all...

Bad look man.

Your kid is probably in Juniors yes?

So, he doesn't need advanced strategy.

Just deck Expert Belts, Double Colorless Energy, Moonlight Stadium, and Lucians.

You want the Broken-Space Blow Giratina because he can level up and then attack/retreat to the bench.
Having a Giratina X on the bench disrupts the attacking player because he need to discard from hand to attack.

If you kid is really clever, you can toss in a Bronzong G , VS Seeker, and 2 Flint supporters in there.

Well, someone I normally playtest with has a fun and competitive Giratina deck. He runs it with Lucian's Assignment, Double Colorless Energy, a 1-0-1 Gardevoir PL (for :psychic: energy moving), a 1-0-1 Nidoqueen (for healing) and the Giratina from Platinum with the power "let loose." I have NO clue how he keeps it consistent, but it sure does tear up when it gets going. Being able to power up quick while keeping the large energy requirement on the field at all times is a must. Good luck!

Try using Togekiss, with your start Pokemon being Spiritomb so you won't have to worry about Power Spray.
It's a fun, and fast way to get a Giratina up and running!

Here would be a sample list for the newest expansion.

10 Psychic Energy
4 Double Colorless Energy
14...

2 Moonlight Stadium
1 VS Seeker
2 Professor Oak's New Theory
1 Lucian's Assignment
1 Palmer's Contribution
2 Roseanne's Research
2 Pokemon Collector
4 Bebe's Search
2 Expert Belt
2 Warp Point
2 Rare Candy
1 Luxury Ball
22...

2 Claydol GE
2 Baltoy GE
2 Giratina --- The ideal Giratina would be the one that knows "Strafe"
2 Giratina LV.X
2 Nidoqueen RI
2 Nidoran (F) RI
2 Nidorina RI
2 Togekiss GE
2 Togepi GE
2 Togetic GE
4 Spiritomb AR
24...

Once you get used to the deck, you can include techs such as Ampharos that can stop your opponent from using their Poke-Powers once you use Giratina Lv. X's attack! :thumb:

Your son might want to look at comboing Giritina with Gardevoir, both Secret Wonders and Platinum versions. The Platinum version can pass energy, and can help give Giritina the energy it needs if you've used another attacker early on in the game.

If he wants to know what other cards send to the lost Zone, here's a partial list:

Absol G Lvl. X - when you level up Absol G, your opponent must discard a card for every heads they flip.

Dialga G Lvl. X - has an attack called 'remove lost' that hits for 80, and sends an energy attached to the defending pokemon for every heads you flip until you get tails.

Palkia G Lvl. X - Has a poke power that allows you to send your opponent's benched pokemon to the lost zone. However, your opponent has to have 4 or 5 pokemon on the bench for it to work, and you also have to send your benched pokemon to the lost zone if you have over 4 or 5 on the bench. Also, your opponent gets to choose which they send to the lost zone.

If he wants to use Giritina as the main attacker, using Absol G for early game disruption might work.

Thank you for the atraight forward advice for the juniors red face powder Archtype.

Thank you Hatter for giving a starting list. Togekiss looks really good.

I would like to also thank everyone who took time to offer advice.

So kind of a summary:

Good supporting Pokemen:

- Gallade 4
- Nidoqueen
- Spiritomb
- Togekiss
- Gardevoir
-Bronzong G
- Absol G

Good Stadium:

- moonlight
- Broken time space

Other support:

- Expert belt
- Vs Seeker
- Double Colorless
- Flint
- Lucians
- other staples that should be in most decks. Bebe's, Claydols, Roseanne's, and such.

If he doesn't have any moonlight stadiums to make retreating easier, you can use the Giritina that has strafe in order to get Giritina back to the bench if needed.

If your son puts together a deck that has mostly psychic type only, I found Miasma valley is pretty good too. If they put down a basic pokemon, they have to put 20 damage on it if it isn't psychic or grass type. That combined with Giritina Lvl. X's spread attack means that any basic they play down will have 50 damage on it on the first turn they play it if it isn't psychic. Just some ideas.

Also, if he chooses to put in some Gardevoirs, he may also want to think about Gallade from Secret Wonders too. It's a fighting type, but it uses Psychic energy for its best attack.

Didn't mean to come off that way, though I mentioned a few times that my opinion about a pure spread Tina deck is a bad Idea in the format. For juniors however, as long as they aren't running queen, it can be devastating.
Here's my tourney list I took battleroads with:

3x Giratina (2 Let Loose w/ 1 Overslash)
1x Gira X

2x Raltz
1x Kirlia
2x Gardy (PL w/ psy connect)
1x Gardy X

2x Baltoy
3x Claydol

1x Duskull (shiny)
1x Dusknoir (DP w/ Dark Palm)

1x Brnzor (MD)
1x Bronzong (MD w/ Cursed Alloy)

1x Zangoose
1x Azelf
1x Unknown G

4x Pokedrawer +
4x SSU
3x Roseanne's
3x Rare Candy
3x Pkedex
3x Warp Point
2x Bebe's
2x Night Maintenance
2x Moonlight
1x Lux Ball

8 Psychic Energy
3x Call

The deck worked out really well and even though it's not my current list, it can still mess quite a few people up. Basic strategy was spread, using teh different Giratina's alongside Bronzong as a wall while still laying damage (especially in the current power heavy format). Gardy is for energy manipulation (and it's personally the only way I've ever found to run Giratina effectively) which pairs really well with Super Scoop Up for healing. DP Dusknoir and the Warp Points is for disruption and I actually won most of my matches because I could warp their active out and Dark Palm it back into their deck (also works great on Claydols). Zangoose WAS for disruption and additional spread, but I nixed it after the tourney because I never actually used it and instead added a SW Gardevoir. Unknown G for Machamp (ps Machamp HATES this deck and you WILL stomp it in the face).

Hope this helps more than my last post and I apologize again for not helping better earlier; I just usually don't like flinging out deck lists and I guess communication with out one to comment and break down is a bit difficult for me (?).

Cetra - Help out a newbie dad here......
Gardy is.......Gardevoir??
SSU is .......??

Thank you for the expanded explaination. Helps out.

SSU is super Scoop Up and on another note a great Giratina deck is not one that sends stuff to the lost zone but disrupts others and their set up. You would run 2 Broken space blow tina and 1 let loose with a Lv. X
Your focus of the deck is to use strafe with a expert belt and switch into something like Spiritomb(AR) or shednija (SV) and have your Lv. X on the bench so when(if) they can Attack they must dicard a card.
You would run Unown Q to be able to retreat the Spiritomb or shedniija and Rise and repeat.
If you want a decklist or more in depth into this deck you can PM me anytime and I will always be happy to answer your questions.
Hope this helped

I ran a silly Giratina deck at Nats last year. Lets see if I remember the list:

3 Bronzong4
1 BronzongG
4 Mespirit
3-1 Uxie
2-1-1 Giratina (Overslash, Let Loose, Lvl X)
2 Unown G
2 Crobat G
20 Pokemon

4 SSU
4 Roseannes
4 Level Max
4 Poke Turn
2 Warp Point
3 Amulet Coin
2 Cyrus' Conspiracy
1 SP Radar
2 Bebe
2 Premier Ball
2 Night Maintenence

10 Psychic Energy

Main goal was hand disruption while setting up a Giratina X. Keep shuffling their hand in, and lock powers with Mesprit for as many turns as possible to prevent them from getting well set up. Start doing damage with either mespirit or giratina and start sending things to lost zone around Turn 3/4. The format was a little different then(DP-RR) but I've been thinking of retooling it now with expert belt. It had positive matchups vs LuxApe and beedrill, about even with PalkiaLock, negative to Gengar and autoloss to flygon. I went 4-4.

Thank you for the advise. When my son is ready I might share this with him. Right now he just really likes the idea of the lost zone.

honchvire, thank you for the D-List. Every input helps out.
