Even though I sit there and stare at Chris in disgust whenever he does his between-round yelling, I really find it quite enjoyable. Watching him make a fool of himself just reaffirms my status as the Oregon POP's alpha male.
Besides, if the kids like it, I'm for it. We adults enjoy the strategy: the kids enjoy the fun and excitement.
Also, regarding this comment:
Yet we’re always in a space were we can be easily ignored or closed of from everyone else.(Keep up the yelling and soon there will be no place to play PTCG)
,,,,,,The places we play PTCG at all have their specific game rooms.
Borderlands: Huge, attractively decorated room made specifically for in-store card gaming and two smaller rooms for more private in-store gaming.
Avatar's Lair: Cool, dungeon-like area made specifically for in-store card gaming.
Dragon's Alley (now defunct): When they were in business, they had TWO rooms made for in-store gaming.
Guardian Games: Both the old AND new locations had large areas made for in-store gaming.
Ancient Wonders: Well......that place sucks.
Rainy Day Games: Has a decent-sized place for in-store gaming.
Actually, I've been to pretty much every Oregon PTCG location (except Loki's), and all of them have specific areas designated for in-store gaming, and none of them force us Pokemon players to have all the crappy or hidden seats. However, all of the stores NEED to have specific areas so people can play games AWAY from the shelves and customer-traffic lanes. After all, they can't have the tournament ouy in front of the main counters; they still have to help customers of all sorts.
Edit: Also, from a business standpoint, if I was an owner of a games shop and I allowed BDS or Chris to run a tournament at my establishment, I'd know that having a tournament of 40+ people could give me a nice sales boost. Even if most of the people who attended were kids who love Chris' hollering, chances are that those kids would whine at their parents to buy them some booster packs or whatever. So, even if I really hated Chris' yelling, if I saw that his banshee-like wails were attracting more people to all of the Oregon POP tournaments (including those run inside my store), I'd gladly sit through five hours of that and hope that everyone likedmy place enough to hold MORE tournaments there.
Vance, I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just explaining why it's very improbable that a smart card-shop owner will refuse to host a POP tourney. When you boil it down to it's basic components, you could even say that Chris and BDS make money for these store owners.
