Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Grinders: The day of Shedinja (or, The longest round ever!)

Hell i went 5-4 and went all 9 rounds. It was 3 am before i got sleep. I was supose to be up at 8:30 am and ended up not even getting into the hall till 12:30 due to i needed denny's food before i went to worlds.

I may not of made the cut but ill vouch for anyone in saying the sheninja stall was the biggest issue causing 3 battles to go 30+ minutes over the limit. It was tiring and very stressful.

We had to have a dinner break before round 3 thanks to it ><

I hope they finally ban sheninja just for this reason because if they dont it will be a LONGGGGG tournament season.

I will play Shedinja Stall for the rest of my life now...lol...jk. Sounds like that was a dreary round.

in shedinja stall's defence, i will say that the longest match of the night was the first round ludi mirror match between will hung and somebody else... so not just shedinja....

The thing is, both of those players were running absolutely horrible Shedinja decks, nowhere near as good as the one that top 32'ed at Nats. Anyone familiar with the deck knows that running Pidgeot or Plusle not only ruins your consistency but disallows you from running Cursed Stone (your only win condition against many decks) and also gives your opponent a win condition by playing cards that can be KO'ed. The real tragedy is A) that these two players were paired against each other. Had they been paired against anyone decent (even in a mirror), they would have both probably lost on or before time and B) that draws are no longer a part of this game. A judge could force a draw on games that will clearly take unreasonably long to complete.

If one of these players faced a good list, the skilled player would just wait for their opponent to play down Pidgeot and drop a Ruins before revealing their Cursed Stone, then out-gym them with Cursed Stone and win by knocking out the Pidgeot. The game wouldn't even go over time.
With 300+ players, what are the odds that two Shedinja players, both playing lists that would lose to even other Shedinjas would be paired against each other?

I'm 12, and played in the 11-14 Grinder, but I watched that match and feel bad for the 15+ people who were there till 3 AM.

what are you talking about Physics Squirrel? Those were the best Shedinja decks ever. The other ones that ran fossiles where horrible. Those could be taken down with no problem at all. Heck, those 2 fossile Shedinja decks even faced each other first round and there was no delay.

But the these two... I've faced them for the last two years and they are hard to beat. They don't hide behind fossiles to set up. They are quick and so annoying. Cursed Stone won't do much since they have plenty of stadiums to counter and they know what they're doing.

I remember being far away from this match. I remember the longetivity of it. And I remember the enthusiastic cheers after it was finally over. In all that time, I could have ran back home in Vegas, ate dinner, and ran back. And it would STILL be going on. Annoying as it is, you should blame the computer randomizer. I know I will lol

One of the judges from the Grinder told me that two Shedinja decks got paired against each other in both 1st and 2nd round.

i dont get it- why did it take so long? could someone explain what happens in the mirror match?

You wait for the other to deck out.

reversal + clutch for game...?

72 minutes is enough time to buy eggs/tomatoes to throw at them. gotta hate shedinja

umm . . . no fossil stall is the way to go. running knock-out-able pokemon kinda ruins the deck. what do you do with pidgeot anyways? "I quick search for . . . oh. i run shedinja. Oops. I guess i will fetch my tech Energy root and attach to shedinja" :/ nonononononononononononononononononononononononono.

Yeah, IMO a better ShedStall wouldn't run Pidgeot, if it gets Reversal'd they can KO it and spam basics just to stall with until time runs out.

Those weren't such good ShedStall decks, the only thing you want to be KO-able is the Nincadas, and I think BOTH of them played Jask; dunno what's up with that. =P

If I played Sheddy I'd run 4 Space Center (probably), because Lati@s = gg.

Pidgeot means they can't play Cursed Stone, either...

EDIT: Hi CR. XD

You're saying this to the guy whose deck got 1st seed at MD states and 1st seed at Rockville GC. I've played ShedStall, and I agree with everything he just said. You don't need Magcargo/Pidgeot or anything for consistency. You should have enough turns to get the cards you need. ShedStall is a fairly simple.

He knows how to play ShedStall. He knows what he's talking about.:thumb:

ShedStall? Who ever said anything about their deck being about that? In my opinion any stall deck should be ban~ theres no strategy in that (besides running down the clock) Their decks are offensive while trying to keep casualties at a min. They always attack thats why they have the minun and plusles (since everyone use powers and bodies duh) and with the Pidgeot you can lock stuff as active. So I don't know why you guys are maing in into this ShedStall while they obviously are different decks and theirs is the oldest running one. In the end its the comp fault for putting them together.

Umm . . . anyone who runs anything besides fossil shedstall in a "shedstall" is w=either A) incompetent or B) A terrible player.
Oh yeah, you are supposed to run ninjask, fyi.
