Guildford CC report

Just a quick report cos I won my first CC of the year! First and last, most likely!

Ok boring bit- night before I have no idea wat to play! I have a mean boom built, but am unsure of playing it because I know the variety of decks that will be there. Raieggs is another option but i wanted something a little more interesting! and i even considered my GFs deck for a while!
So we (Me, UKpro, Daryl) get there and drive around a bit before going in so i can find a very reasonably priced cheese salad roll!! :D

After playing a practice game against irwin MC (with the mic-a-mic-rophone), with my eeveelutions ex deck and winning, i start considering this as a viable deck option again. Its varied, covers a lot of weaknesses/strategies and is so fun to play! So i went with it!

Game 1- Paul E with Raieggs
Ok, this is a relatively straightforward matchup. I have all of Raieggs weaknesses covered (fighting weakness covered with my excellent tech!) and because everything is d, lickitung d has an absolute field day. I started with licki, and there was no looking back. I think licki took 4 prizes with jolt and espy taking the other two
1-0

Game 2- Ian F with Flygon d/d ex
I know Ians using the delta draw engine so i expect licki to be big in this game again. Sure enough i start with him :D and ian unfortunately just doesnt get set up. I saw one flygon d and that was about it. I hit a crucial ER2 which set him back a vital turn and i was able to capitalise on this despite a disruption misplay. Handled pretty comfortably.
2-0

Wow, i think i mite be in with a shot here! DONT CHOKE DONT CHOKE DONT CHOKE.......

Game 3 Irwin MC with Ttar ex and ttar d
Now, i expected this to be the prequel to the final and so some decisions i made a little rashly because i thought the outcome didnt matter. This was the closest game i have had in tournament play...literally. We exchange prizes fairly rapidly, with licki not having as much as an effect as i would have liked- Irwin evolved to ttar ex early. His giant stump almost made me ruin my chances as i was about to chuck a benched eevee, but i kept my two ready for a late game combo- which actually bore fruit!! a late game umbreon/espeon combo KOd a larvitar (once a Ttar ex) and pretty much the turn after i did this, time was called on two prizes each. I have Umbreon active and attach to my benched super tech and dark cry. The new ttar ex was now on 40. Irwin manages to attach two to ttar and does 80 which means i have to move umbreon earlier than expected. I retreat for my tech on my turn, and do 60. However, to kill me, he has a crucial flip, .........which he flips tails.
Great Game
3-0

Final- Ian F
Turns out that by a bizarre TOM moment, im playing Ian F for the final!
Game 1
This one i dont remember much about, but it was over very quickly. I think i Kod a lone holon castform ftw but im not sure. It was a shaky start for me but i was lucky.
1-0
Game 2
I get a fairly decent start- licki, 1 eevee, jolteon, vaporeon few energy. So he goes second and i lap up for another eevee and something else. That lap up was the most draw power i got all game. I didnt play a single supporter.
But thankfully i didnt need to. Ian gets out the ex version but i decide to double evolve my two eevees. I power up vaporeon and 3hko flygon. Unluckily for ian, despite a vast amount of draw, he just cant get his candies, and he can do very little. I plow through basics with vaporeon pretty much for the win. I think ian scooped on 5-0.
2-0

So i won! WOOOOOOOOOOO!

Props
Ray d ex, Kingdra d ex in prizes!
Ben for awesome tournament running and the lift to and from!
The REALLY quick Yu Gi Oh final which we waited to finish but was only 15 mins long!
Making it back in time for dinner with my gf and her parents!
The awesome cheese salad rolls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slops
Absolutely none

Thanks for reading! PM me if u wana chat eeveelutions

Huge congratualtions Andy :D, Irwin must be hating you and me right now lol. Shame I couldn't make it but looks like it would have been fun.

So is that your second title?

First for this season, 3rd CC in my playing career!!! *looks proud*
Irwin seemed a little puzzled by his own absence in the top cut, but obv. ians resistance was higher! Oh well :D All Crawley final FTW!!!

yep Ian had the crucial points in the end - not the first or last time that the final is determined this way..

Just ask Russell M!!

anyhow well done Andy and I hope you eventually got to your date :)

congrats... wished I could have made more of a game of it but the cards just wouldn't come. :(

still I've now got my invite to nationals in the bag...

congrats! I still think you should've gone with Boom, but it's probably cooler you won with your Eevees deck =) Well done!

Thanks for kind words peeps!
Fireborn- would have gone with boom but i knew there was a Ttar ex there! AND i needed lots of types to cover a variety of decks weaknesses :) May go with it next tourney ;-)
