Gym Challenges for European next year?

I want to start discussing about a "hot" thing, that is the Gym Challenge thing.
Worlds is from years the best chance to deal with Americans, and i know that the whole Tournament Season is quite decided just after Worlds.
This year Europeans have increased their number at Nats and had not any other occasion to take invite for Worlds . Our number are near Americans number now.
As i know, only from Nederland we'll have a great number of people. Slovenia, fortunately, have all his best players at Worlds, but only because drago is jasa's father.
From Germany, Italy, France, we have a lot of champions who will remain at home.
From Britain i don't know, but i surely know that there are a lot of good people and only a few will be there.

What i want to ask you, is if there are any ideas from your LD to ask for a Gym Challenge, as you know.
I really don't know if Marcello is interested in it, but i think it will be a great idea to organize a Gym Challenge open to all the Europeans. If too money are needed, it could be an idea to organize a GC in what the organization is covered from more than one country.

I don't want to propose new ideas....just discuss with you to find out how is the situation.

I know that many of us are thinking at Worlds now, but each year i find out that is "too late" to organize something. So it's better to discuss soon.
Thanks for the attention.

If it were to be next year, there's a chance I could come there, especially if it's held in trieste, that's near for everyone (austria, switzerland, france, slovenia, even croatia)

Well, i live in Pordenone, very close to Trieste, and there are many possibility in organizing a Gym Challenge here.

I don't know exactly why I think the following but I expect that there will be greater emphasis on the local tournaments rather than a big worlds event in future.

So yes I think we could get a European Championship next year. This may sit above the local Nationals or might be something seperate and extra.

Worlds I anticpate evolving into more of a Tropical Mega Battle, with a smaller number of competitiors from each continent. The samller tournament would still crown three world champions.

FWIW I don't think there is currently any restriction that prevents one or more Gym Challenges being held in Europe.

I thought there were no Gym Challenges in Europe, like none at all, because LD's only want to pay 1 trip, 2 in the UK, and not more, so having a Gym Challenge would be like having 2 Nationals minus the money, you would still probably get the same attendance and everything.

Euro Championships would be nice, yeah.

andceo, if the tournament would be held in Pordenone (I know it's near Trieste), I'd most likely come there.
Pablo, are you the 3rd place Pablo or? if so, has your suspension been lifted, and how's it going here in Europe?

Well, i think next year would be very difficult because of thes chool exam. I'm one of the best organizer here, so i don't know without me if somebody can organize the whole thing.

Btw, it's better waiting for LD seeing what it says.

But, i can tell you that Pordenone is a perfect place....we have a big hotel fore the event and with my store we have a sponsor for the tournament....my friends and me are ready to organize each trip, coming in each airport and in the railway and putting sign on the road....but these are details, it's better to know what our LD thinks abou it.

That'd be cool too, but I think Italy is better, since it's the center (virtually)... I mean, people from Spain can come too, France, the Netherlands, and Germany also, all the way to Russia aren't that far, are they? only you, the Scandinavians, are a bit far, but I think you could make it to the south much easier than all of us to the north...

I think you are talking about it as it would be an easy thing to do!
Remember that we didn't have a Gym Challenge because it's quite impossible to organize for they money it costs!
So, i think that many countries could organize themselves to have one....for example, as Germany is the centre of the Europe (better than Italy), Germany-Italy-France-Britain can talk together to organize a Gym.

I know that Italy, with Marcello, it's one of the best country to involve in. France organized a very good national....maybe they could be interested in it. Germany? I don't know....Britain is surely the best country involved in TCG.

What i want you to do is understand how a Gym Chanllenge is organized and deal with your LD.

There was a stadium challenge in austria last year right?

Yes this was instead of a Nationals.
This year they had a Nationals and total 17 players attending.

Europe should have independent Gym Challenges.
Not payed by LD's, but by PUI, like the USA ones.

I would not be at all surprised if the Gym Challenges are dropped from the USA next year. Or to be more precise droped as a way of qualifying for worlds.

What I anticipate is that the USA tournament play will become more self-funding. There will be free events but there will either be more pay-to-play events or the prizes wont have quite such a high dollar value.

What makes me think this way. Well a key part of retaining and attracting players is that players must believe that they are in with a chance and not forever doomed to loose. Funding for OP comes from sales, and perversely if the game is more successfull then there is actually less money per player for POP to spend on OP. More players, more winners, less money, something has to give.

Because some of the countries are to small, and have to bad OP.
Like Sweden.....I think Swedish people suck :p
