Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Gym Clash Contest, Part 1 of 2

New Member
The first part of this contest will be setmaking. Let's explain this part first.

Bugsy gets all Bug-typed pokémons.
Clair gets all Dragon-typed pokémons.
Karen gets all Dark-typed pokémons.
Jasmine gets all Steel-typed pokémons.

Winona gets all Flying-typed pokémons.
Roxanne gets all Rock-typed pokémons.
Glacia gets all Ice-typed pokémons.
Wattson gets all Eletric-typed pokémons.

Koga gets all Poison-typed pokémons.
Giovanni gets all Ground-typed pokémons.
Agatha gets all Ghost-typed pokémons.
Blaine gets all Fire-typed pokémons.

And these are all the trainers you can do pokémons. You will only do pokémons, i'm responsible for reprinting or creating any trainer or energy (except the Basic Energy cards, Darkness Energy and Metal Energy. These are all already reprinted).

Everyone will follow the standard rules for grammar, brokeness, and such. For pokémons, the invented mechanics for now allowed to them is the Experienced one (you can find it here) and the Traits one (you can find it here), but i'll be the responsible for creating Traits for your pokémons, don't worry (and you only do Experienced versions of a card if you want). I'm open to suggestions, so if you want to see your mechanic here, PM me and i may add it.

Note that, cards made during this part of the contest won't be graded! But they are important for the second part of this contest; battle, my friends. In the next part, everyone will send me deck lists, using only the cards from this set, and i'll use the good old Apprentice to test these decks one against other. So yes, the second part of this is the actual contest.

Some last reminders... Since i'll fight against myself in the second part, there is a special "rule" in these kinds of matches: "Both players play with their hands revealed." It is obvious why this happen. And it changes a lot of strategies. So creating a pokémon that reveal your opponent's hand is useless for this set.

Also, there's a "flaw" that you can exploit: Say that you want to play Rock-Lock. You just create a Karen's Tyranitar line, a Wattson's Ampharos line, and a Winona's Pidgeot line, all having the same attacks/powers/bodies as the Rock-Lock counterparts. Sure, you can do that; but be careful, because strategies are very different than usual. First, because i'm the only one that can do trainers and energies. Second, because of the rule mentioned in the paragraph above.

Well, what else i have to say? Multiplies of a card are allowed. Ask me if you have any doubt. Pokémon-* use the same energies as their normal counterparts (this is obvious). Have fun (this is an order)!

Following is the set list so far (EDIT: With a new layout!) . And the first three trainers are in the next post.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that this set doesn't need to be completed to start the second part of the contest. I'll start it when this set has enough cards.

EDIT: Other unofficial mechanics allowed: Ultima types. Contact Burninating_Torchic for more info about it (or just read this thread). Quick Pokémon -- see it here. You may also ask LorakLucan for any questions.

EDIT: No more flavor text/pokédex, since the file that contained it got corrupted.

And the first trainers are...

-------------------
Potion
Trainer Card
Remove up to two damage counters from one of your pokémons.
-------------------
Mail from Bill
Trainer Card
You can't play this card if you have five or more cards in your hand. Draw cards until you have exactly four cards in your hand.
-------------------
Forest Guardian
Trainer Card (Supporter)

[Supporter Rule: You can only play one Supporter card each turn. When you play this card, put it next to your Active Pokémon. When your turn ends, discard this card.]

Shuffle your deck. Then, look at the top seven cards of your deck. Choose one of those cards and put it in your hand. Shuffle the rest into your deck afterwards.
------------------

Yeah, they suck. I am evil.

I'd love to know what's wrong with this contest. Anyway, i have to post some trainers...

-------------------
Town Volunteers
Trainer Card (Supporter)

[Supporter Rule: You can only play one Supporter card each turn. When you play this card, put it next to your Active Pokémon. When your turn ends, discard this card.]

Take 5 Baby Pokémon, Basic Pokémon, Evolution and/or basic Energy cards from your discard pile and then show them to your opponent. Shuffle them into your deck.
------------------
Lass
Trainer Card
You and your opponent each show each other your hands. Each player shuffles all trainers in their hands into their deck.
------------------
PokéNav
Trainer Card
Look at the top 3 cards of your deck, and choose a Basic Pokémon, Evolution card, or Energy card. Show it to your opponent and put it into your hand. Put the 2 other cards back on top of your deck in any order.
------------------

Okay

I'm just a little bit confused. So, basically I create the Pokemon I want in my deck. Let's say I want a Bugsy deck. So I create the cards I want for her, right? Do I choose what trainers I want or do you choose them?

Burninating_Torchic: Probably. Just PM me with some info, such as if the energies are Special (like Darkness and Metal) or Basic, and i'll add it to the list of invented mechanics that are allowed in pokémons (as you may already have noticed, the inclusion of Ultima types was, in fact, already part of my plan).

DragonSol: Correct. If you want a Bugsy deck, in this first part you just create various pokémons for her. Then, when the second part starts, you make a deck only with cards in this set (so you choose what trainers are in your deck, provided that they are in this set).

instead of PMing you, I'll just post it.

In Ultima, every type(including dark and metal) is a basic energy type. I don't know if you want to make dark and metal basic for this set or not, but I'm just pointing out that they're all basic on the standard Ultima scale.
Ultima types are:
Bug
[O] Rock
[N] Ground
[Y] Flying
[A] Dragon
[H] Ghost
Ice
Poison
---
Anyways, are we allowed to like reserve lines for our deck?

Burninating_Torchic: Dark and Metal will remain as Special energy types. And using Ultima types are an option, if you want to do the usual TCG type, it's up to you. And... Reserve lines? I don't see why, since creating multiples of a card are allowed (example: someone does a Clair's Kingdra line, but you disliked it. You just do a Clair's Kingdra line for yourself).

OMG you hate Alakazam! No Psychics! Ahh!

Errm... can I be the Psychic trainer then? XD

DragonSol: Correct. If you want a Bugsy deck, in this first part you just create various pokémons for her. Then, when the second part starts, you make a deck only with cards in this set (so you choose what trainers are in your deck, provided that they are in this set).
Uh, Bugsy is male.

Ok

So we just post our cards here? Here are my first ones.

Glacia's Seel
50 HP (W)
Basic Pokemon

(C) Glacia Call
Search your deck for 2 Basic Pokemon with Glacia in their names and put them in your hand. Shuffle your deck afterward.

(W)(C) Ice Beam 30

Weakness: (L)
Resistance: (I)
Retreat Cost: (C)

Glacia's Dewgong
90 HP (W)
Stage 1 Pokemon (Evolves from Glacia's Seel)

Poke-POWER: Glacia Hyper Call
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may flip a coin. If heads, search your deck for a Pokemon with Glacia in its name and put it onto your bench. Treat the new benched Pokemon as a Basic Pokemon. Shuffle your deck afterward.

(I) Powder Snow
The Defending Pokemon is now Asleep.

(W)(I)(C) Sheer Cold 50
Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokemon can not attack during your opponent's next turn.

Weakness: (O)
Resistance: (W)
Retreat Cost: (C)(C)

Carrington388: Eh, i forgot completely. Blame DragonSol for saying that Bugsy was female, i just followed. Bugsy does look female, though.

Some trainers!

-------------------
Conveyor Belt Stadium
Trainer Card (Stadium)

[Stadium Rule: This card stays in play when you play it. Discard this card if another Stadium comes into play]

Retreating Pokémons with the Agile Trait do not count towards the number of Retreats per turn.
-------------------
Energy Removal 2
Trainer Card
Flip a coin. If heads, choose 1 Energy card attached to 1 of your opponent's Pokémon and discard it.
-------------------
Energy Ark
Trainer Card
Flip 2 coins. Search your deck for a number of basic Energy cards equal to the number of heads, show them to your opponent, then put them into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterwards.
-------------------

EDIT: Edited Conveyor Belt Stadium. Changed "your" to "the", this way it affects both players.

shiftrymaster68: Yes. In fact, any official mechanic is allowed (for example, Shining pokémon, pokémon-*, either version of the Baby pokémon mechanic, etc...).

Can't wait to see how this contest will turn out. For now, let's reprint some cards...

-------------------
Pokémon Flute
Trainer Card
Choose a Basic Pokémon card from your opponent's discard pile and put it in play into your opponent's Bench. You can't use this trainer if your opponen't Bench is full.
-------------------
Balloon Berry
Trainer Card (Pokémon Tool)

[Pokémon Tool Rule: Attach this card to 1 of your Pokémon that doesn't already have a Pokémon Tool attached to it. If that Pokémon is Knocked Out, discard this card.]

As long as Balloon Berry is attached to a Pokémon, that Pokémon's Retreat Cost is 0. When this Pokémon retreats, discard Balloon Berry.
-------------------
Giovanni
Trainer Card
Choose 1 of your Pokémon in play with Giovanni in its name. For the rest of your turn, you may evolve that Pokémon even if you just played or evolved it this turn or if this is your first turn. This effect also applies to the Pokémon it evolves into.

Archonn-When's the deadline for submitting cards? I'll have limited or no access to a computer starting tomorrow and ending a week from tomorrow. Family wants to go sightseeing before worlds.
