Hariyama ex Pivot Throw

ShadowCard

Active Member
Hariyama ex from Deoxys:
Pivot Throw (80) During your opponent's next turn, any damage done to Hariyama ex by attacks is increased by 10 (before applying Weakness and Resistance).
From Compendium lvX

Effects on the attacking Pokemon are applied before weakness and resistance. Effects on the defending Pokemon are applied after weakness and resistance. (Jan 15, 2009 PUI Rules Team)

Is the effect of Pivot Throw on Hariyama ex or is it on the opponent's active (Defending Pokemon)? The effect makes it sound like it is on Hariyama ex but wouldn't the helping text saying the effect is before W&R mean the effect is on the opponent's active, which is the attacking pokemon during the opponent's turn? Trying to figure out which Pokemon has to be switched for the effect to go away.

Maybe an anomaly, I found 125 other cards with the phrase "any damage done to [this pokemon] by attacks is " and the only other one to have the effect apply before W&R has an errata to say the effect is on the Defending Pokemon, Deoxys Holon Phantoms #4 with Delta Reduction. All others where the pokemon is self-referenced say the effect applies after W&R.

From Deoxys #4 Holon Phantoms
[1M] Delta Reduction (30) During your opponent's next turn, any damage done to Deoxys by attacks is reduced by 30 (before applying Weakness and Resistance).
From Compendium ex

* The correct wording for the "Delta Reduction" attack should be, "During your opponent's next turn, any damage done by attacks from the Defending Pokémon is reduced by 30 (before applying Weakness and Resistance)." This means that the effect of Delta Reduction resides on the Defending Pokémon, not on the one performing the attack. (Jan 18, 2007 PUI Rules Team)

The effect is on Hariyama ex, but the text on the card specifies how to apply the damage and should be played as printed.
