Hearts on GBA

I really want to get Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for Christmas. But I'd feel bad asking for a lame game. Has anyone played it before? It looks good, and if the first one was any indication, it should be good. Thanks for your input.

Its worth buy, I have it and i admit I didn't like the new card system, but after I played it I actually thought it was as good as the first....but I do admit I wish they kept the swords in instead of just making them into cards....but they are still cool!!!

See ya

If you played the first one, I don't know if I'd recommend it, because the story line is basically the same, except in past tense (it's like one giant flashback). The only novelty is the cut scene in the beginning.

Its not really at all like the first game.....the game may be set in the same worlds, but the storylines are a bit different. I'm a big Kingdom Hearts fan, but even if you are not so much of a fan, the game is still worth it. Its a bit long, considering that i the game when it came out and i'm only on the 9th floor and there are 13 floors....plus you also got the reverse rebirth mode to do after that.

See ya

I'm not sure if there are multiple cinematics, i'm not far enough in the game. I'm not sure, I never played the first game, just watched my friends play it, so it was a new story to me, but from what I gather, it seems as though the main character, Sora, is just re-experiencing all the events that happened in the last game with the exception of a few twists (which I odn't want to say because if you buy it, you might want to find out for yourself). If you're a big kingdom hearts fan, then i'd recommend buying it because it sets up for the second game, but if you played the first and thought it was just so-so, then it probably isn't worth buying. It's like Kingdom Hearts 1.5 rather than a whole new game.

Say, does it have the theme song? "Simple and Clean"? That by itself is reason enough to buy part one. Good game, though.

Oh, and could someone explain what they mean by card-battling system?

Thanks.

What they mean when they say "card battling system" is that insteed of giving you key chain type things to put on the keyblade they give you cards. everything in this game is basically run by cards. you open doors with cards, you battle with cards, and you kill people and get a card copy of them. what you have is three deck slots that you can make decks with, at the begining they set you up with a deck but as the game progresses you earn more. with your cards you get to make decks, and with the decks you battle the villians and the heartless.

basically thats what it is. i've been playing it for c week or so and i think its really fun. at first i didn't like the battling system but when i found out how to properly use it, i like it a lot. If any of the sfuff above made any sense at all to you them it might help with your decision.

Bearing in mind that the battling isn't at all like a TCG of any sort. Cards are used to determine your actions, you can cycle through your deck at any time, et cetera. It's real time battle, but your actions are determined by what cards you have. Even then, you can combine cards for more powerful combos, all sorts of nifty things.

My only problem with this game is how badly it plays on a GBA player, with Dodge rolls being near impossible with a GCN controller and sora looking REALLY bad on it IMO ;_______;

This game is really good (If a bit easy, theres only a few challenging bosses... and even then...). Once you play it you'll notice that it really is a different game for the most part. Alot of similar thigns will happen as did in the first KH, but its deffinenly interesting and worth the buy IMO.

The song is in the ending. Sounds just like the PS2 version.

Reverse/Rebirth mode alone is enough to buy the game. Finally you get to play as Riku. Oh, and if I'm right they also explain who Blonde is if you listen to Naminé ramble (Blonde's the guy who dual-wields keyblades against Axel in the KH2 trailer).

There's nothing nearing what you get from KH, especially KH:FM (Deep Dive is the best secret video ever), but still, CoM's pretty good.

Ah! I got the game and I really love it. And I donn't see how it plays poorly on the GB Player...it just about the only way I play the game nowadays...

Hey, might as well talk some strategy now...

What are some good ideas for decks? I try and have as many 9s as possible with a few 0s. I like to have 0 items when possible. Is this a good idea?

Thanks for the help.

My problem with the GBA player is mostly having to do with the B button being where it is and the control stick making dodge rolls possible only in your dreams. The opening cinema scenes just looked really awful on Player IMO, then again the GCN might have spoiled my vision with several of it's games (Baten Katios in particular <3)

0 Item cards and Spell cards are quite frankly TERRIBLE, you are much better off with a 7, 8, or 9. The reason being that they can take a while to have their effects go off, and they could be broken by ANYTHING if the card you were using was a zero card. Zero cards are only really useful if they are Keyblades because it is usually difficult for a boss to get in an attack if you card break them and hit them with your keyblade, while they can recover and attack again before your Mega-elixir restores all of your cards and resets your reload counter.
Kinda stinks eh?

9s are a good way to go in terms of card values, but do not forget that low number slights, like Ragnarok (Total value is from 7 to 9) and Ars Arcanum (1 to 6) plus the all 0s Zantetsuken :)p), are still very good. Sonic Blade also (21 to 23 I believe...? *has had GBA confiscated*) does a heck of a lot of damage because it can slide through multiple enemies 6 times by pressing A at the end of each dash across the screen.

Also remember to place a prenium card at the beginning of a Slight, because cards used first in a slight or combo can't be reloaded, just like Prenium cards.

Just because slights eat up your cards does not mean you should not use them, Curaga, Sonic Blade, Ragnarok, and Zantetsuken are all life savers against the many late game bosses who move around a lot and attack very quickly (I'm looking at you Larxene).

...I don't think I can type anymore now since I was at Castle Oblivion, just before Axel, when my GBA was taken away a few days ago *sweatdrops*.

Does anyone know where and possibly when I could learn Ragnarok, I'm trying to learn it but don't know how. Please any help is appreciated.

I found sleights to be almost useless against most later bosses who can simply break the chain with a 0.

A good deck building strategy I found is having 2-3 0 attack cards first, cycle past them to high level attack cards, followed by summons/magic (I usually put a premium card after the first summon, so I would be reminded to build a sleight with them), and then one or two items (only Elixir and Megalixir are really useful, and the higher the number the better).

I almost never used the Premium bonus, and only used premiums for their low cost. Only magic I found worth using is Simba, Cloud, and Cure. I also only used the Kingdom Key throughout the whole game for some odd reason.

I was also quite surprised when Simple and Clean played at the end, I thought that the commercial had come on TV. I also liked how it showed what some of the characters and events would/will look like on PS2. Pretty good game, I'm part way through Riku mode now.

Yeah, I let my premiums lead off my combos.

But about combos. It seems like sonic blade is weaker than it's ice counterpart. Do the blades make a difference?

And I have only ever gotten one Cloud. What's up with that? What am I doing wrong?
