Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Heatran Lv.X

I would definitely be using the DP Magnezone with Heatran lv X

Get the free retreat, the alternatives aren't worth it:

Magnezone (metal) IFDS - once during your turn, get a metal or lightning poke from deck
If you've got Magnezone out, you're pretty much set in that regards anyway, though it could prove useful grabbing the lv X or another Magnezone to start building up.

Magnezone (lightning) IFDS - once during your turn, get a [m] or [l] energy from your discard to 1 of your pokes, put 1 damage counter on that poke.
Irrelevant if you're using heatran anyway.

Magnezone (dp) - free retreat machine, really helps get the 2 lv X's set up quicker

everyone so far has been focusing on the first aspect of heatran lvl x, but what about its pokebody? is there a metal type, now or in the near future, capable of inflicting burn status?

Okay, first, I'm not sure where you get that idea of something hinting at a future :metal: card that inflicts Burns.

Also, Heatran clearly won't be Burning the Defending Pokemon himself, anytime soon.
That is also the reason why he combo's with so many cards.

From my perspective, Rapidash SF is Heatran LV.X's soulmate since it makes VERY good use of BOTH it's Body and Power.

i am just thinking it is a weird card. it has many obvious combos with fire type but seems very out of sorts with other steel types. i only bring this up because it seems strange to me that the level x seems so very skewed towards fire and has almost no use with steel.

From my perspective, Rapidash SF is Heatran LV.X's soulmate since it makes VERY good use of BOTH it's Body and Power.

Rapidash is obviously a very good play with it, but I think its soulmate is Magmortar.

Torrid Wave + auto tails = 30 between turns, then fireball bazooka for 40, +20 spread to 2 = 70/20 spread.

Torriwd Wave + auto tails = 30 between turns, snipe 100, recover energy with Heatran and so on.

I think both will very good combos with Heatran (both being Rapidash & Magmortar) - I think Heatran is just an amazing card, we'll see the best things that come out of it.

Torrid Wave can only be used every other turn.

Also, it's a tad slow since it 'requires'the LV.X.

Dash is faster and can keep on Sniping while playing mind games with it's Poke-Body.

torrid wave can be used every turn. if you mean flame bluster, yes thats true, but thats not a problem warp point cant fix. i dont really like sniping for 60. thats nothing these days.

Agreed - sniping for 60 is nice, but it just doesn't really kill much.

Magmortar example.

Magmortar lv X uses Torrid Wave - burns (30 dmg btwn turns)
Magmortar lv X uses Flame Buster and discards 2 [r] energy (which heatran then recovers) - 100 snipe (guarantee ko Claydol with very likely ko most others)
Warp Point , bring up Chatot, retreat Chatot, Torrid Wave their new active, flame buster and KO their big poke.

Good Magmortar decks always play 4 Warp Points.

i love the card in magkiss pokemon line like this:
3-3-1 magmortar lv.x
2-2 heatran lv.x
2-pachirisu
1-chatot
2-0-2 togekiss
18 pokemon

i just wanted to remind us all that this card comes in a tin! assuming that there are only diamond-pearl on packs in the tin, i think that this makes a quality argument that the tins are for competitive players as well.

so would infernape from md get the benefit of heatran x's power? infernape lets you discard fire energies, and it does 40 x each one. heatran says if you MUST discard, blah blah blah. do you still get the energies back?

thanks
