Used to love to collect the cards and played around with the game a long time ago. The neo genesis was coming out and I got out of pokemon, wasn't ever really competitive.

Now I'm older and am playing the pokemon tcg game for gameboy And have done a little research and am trying to make a deck themed around that time period and game.

From the looks of it haymakers seemed to rule the era. Only other decks being competitive is rain dance, wiggly tuff, damage swap, and venusaur.

I've found damage swap to suit my play style.

Anyone help with my deck? I want to to stay playable in the game.

Pokemon:

Abra x3
Alakazam x3
Jigglypuff x3 (lv.13) in game
Wigglytuff x3
Lickitung x2
Chansey x3
Kangaskan x2

Trainers:

Professor Oak x2
Bill x4
Pokemon trader x2
Pokemon breeder x3
Switch x2
Pokemon center x3
Scoop up x3
Computer search x3
Gust of wind x2

Energy:
Psychic x13
Double colorless x4

Description

Alakazam usually never comes out and just floats in bench for pkmn power
Wigglytuff is used for beater
Chansey is the sponge
Lickitung is cheap easy attack with confusion. Also for other psychics
Kanga for draw power and sponge

Everything else is self explanatory.

Considerations of my own.

Mr. Mime for heavy hitter sponge stall
Tauros for Alakazam combo?

Below are my fixes and explanation

You can try using Mr. Mime (Jungle) along with Tentacool Fossil's Pokemon Power cowardice with Alakazam's damage swap Pokemon Power to heal up 20 damage from Mr. Mime each turn. The downside is Tentacool could get gusted and knocked out. Energy Retrievals are meant to counter any Energy Removals or Super Energy Removals used against this deck.

Personally, I play do the wave in that format of Pokemon.
Other than what Alazor Said, my reccomendations are to run Slowbro (fossil) instead of Alakazam, it frees up a lot of space in the deck to run a lot of other things supporting the deck. The problem with tentacool is it is easily a free prize almost everytime and wigglytuff needs your bench to be full.
In place of tanky chansey you can play some super potions to fully heal off your slowbros when needed.
You can't play this gen without energy disruption, /sarcasm lol. But really, you need some.
Pokemon Center's costs are heavy. If you plan on using that late game it won't be effective. Your Pokemon will be completely neutered while their Pokemon (late game) will be setup.
Mr.Mime is kinda like a safety net, use him if your opponent is running a lot of power like Pinsir, scyther, etc. It shuts them down letting your wigglytuffs live and allowing your slowbros not to be gust of wind bait.

You can also try looking at my previous threads.
Psyduck Fossil's Headache attack stops trainers and can counter Gust of Wind.
