Okay, so I'm a Senior in High School, trying to survive one more year until College. Every class is actually not providing much of a challenge to me, except my Science Class, Physics.

I'm dreading over this class just simply because it is incredibly tough. So tough that the grading scales for this class has been redone so that 83% or higher is an A, 72% or higher is a B, and 66% or higher is a C. Currently, for some weird reason, I'm pulling a 92.9%, which actually got recorded into the quarter grades as a B =/.
Anyways, for those in high school or those in College taking general ed Science or as a major, I'd personally like to get some opinions on Science Classes. Even though some science classes are really fun, it's a pain in the neck for me with the work.

So, how are other's science classes going?
 
Goodness, Physics is a pain! I ended up skipping chemistry (My Engineering Tech class makes you take Physics) It is just another Math class, that's all it is! I can do Math and alll, but it drives me CRAZY! *Bashes head on keyboard* There is far to many formulas and are class doesn't have it so an 83 is an A. Well, now back to writing that stupid paper! Find a science new article, write a page summary and a page opinion, the thing is though is that it is only worth 25 point (test are worth a hundred, go figure) and we were given it back in October. Well, gotta go!

I failed highschool physics. I took Earth sciences my freshmen year, and passed it just fine. It was a very non-mathematical science course.
 
I think physics is REALLY easy!

You just need to learn a few things, and then apply what you've learned to another situation. If you understand it, then you will always get it right, no matter what the question.

(I got the highest SATs science results in our school last year)
 
Well as a junior in high school, Im actually getting into Chemestry next semester, and ya know what that means...

Just don't play with the HCl, which you use in almost everything in high school, or anything that looks like it will explode.
 
Here's how science classes work at my school (number next to them equal number of actual classes are taught, based on a 25/class average)

Freshmen-
Freshman Science Basic- (2)
Intro to Science Principles [earth/physical science]- (6)
Biology Honors- (4)

Sophomore-
Biology Basic- (2)
Biology [Regular]- (6)
Chemistry Honors- (3)

Junior-
Chemistry Foundations- (3)
Chemistry [Regular]- (4)
Physics Honors- (3)

Senior-
[Not enough people to take remedial physics course]
Physics Regular- (2)
Physics AP- (1)
Biology AP- (2)
Chemistry AP- (2)

Other Courses-
Anatomy&Physiology [Prereq's: Biology and Health]- (3)
Ecology [Prereq's: Biology]- (3)


So as for me, right now I'm a Sophomore in Chemistry Honors and Anatomy&Physiology (I took Bio and Health last year) And I'm doing pretty well in both them. As for Physics, if you're stuggling with it, you must have had some really hard times in Chemistry because it appears that after Chemistry Physics is just the biggest relief one can get.

I don't know why, but Physics seems to be my hardest subject. Math, easy as heck. Physics... my only B at the moment. It's not that the work or the equations are hard, it's that you're supposed to be able to solve for this and that and the other. That and you need to realise that 20 is very different from 20.0, which is a very annoying thing, at least to how my brain works ("hey, either one is twenty, I dunno what you're trying to say").

Also, "Little Timmy was a chemist. Little Timmy is no more. Because what he thought was H20, was really H2S04."

I once dumped a half gallon of hot aqua regia all over myself. Now that was interesting!
...watching my clothes disintegrate before my eyes.
 
Well for one, I'm rather happy I'm not a high school student, I just started Junior High. May the force be with you!
 
lol. I've finished High School about 3 years back, with a complete abscence of flying colours. I suppose if the teacher didn't just copy from the book onto the blackboard, and actually explained something to us, we might have done a bit better. Then again, I suppose doing the 'suicide 5' (top English, Physics, Chem, Maths1, and Maths2) probably wasn't such a good idea for me. Because I didn't have any motivation or organizational skills, I did find that the second half of my exams were best used making origami. :p

Hint- don't do what I did and fail most of your subjects. It's not a good idea, especially considering how well I could have done with my IQ.

I don't learn anything in my Biology class. And for that matter I don't learn anything
in my Italian, Math, Global and LAB classes either :eek:

Just goes to show how unqualified our teachers are .... :nonono:

School is for learning and its a waste since I (and no doubtebly others) aren't learning anything!
 
though I am still in middle school I love my science classes. We are studing space(not very interesting, but life sciences next year. Yay!)and your final is in two days.

I hope this opinion wasn't too difernent,

I LOVE Biology! I'm a Sophomore in High School, and I'm creaming the whole class. I'm not taking any other science classes, but I'm enjoying the one I'm taking now.
