New to this...but....Hilton Waikoloa Village is SOLD OUT for the week of the PWC. Any suggestions on what to do to get a room for a player with an invite?

Find a roommate. Dont think there are any hotels close by. You can check hotel sites, but I think the Village is called a village bc it is its own area.

Hilton sold out

I would look into the Marriot which is fairly close by. I don't think walkable, but not too far and supposedly has a decent beach.

Was at Worlds 2007. The Marriott, and a couple of other Hotels near Hilton are walkable, we did the walk. If you have a car, the cheapest hotel is the "Kona Seaside Hotel" down in Kona, and the drive can easily be done in 30 minutes. Go to expedia to see the ksh. We stayed a week there and it was fine, equal to a good motel 6 or super 8. We only slept in ksh, rest of time at beach, etc.

Good News!

Okay..good news! The HWV is still sold out but the Costco plan others have talked about still has 60 or so rooms left. I booked the hotel/rental car through them to make sure we'd be where all the action is. Thanks for your suggestions, though! The Marriott does still have rooms at $199/night if anyone else in the same boat.:thumb:

I know that when I booked, I got the last two bedroom room. I didn't think that they were that close to being soldout, but I guess so. That's a little surprising if that is the case considering the massive size of the hotel. It is one the 10 largest hotels in the world, it is just a bit surprising that it is totally soldout.

It's the last weekend before many American primary and secondary schools start. The wonder to me is that it wasn't sold out sooner.

So we should bring our own sheets?

(I suspect this is Travel Agent speak for 2 queens vs. 1 king, etc.)

As I told everyone for about a month and a half now, I got the last normal 2 bed room. There are rooms when I booked available but they were 1 Bed rooms. Some might have pullout, but not sure. The issue with this Hilton is it is more about Honeymoons or Romantic Vacations (IMO) than anything else. There are an insane amount of rooms, unfortunately, most of them are 1 bed, not 2 like most hotels.

The Hilton still has availability, I just booked my room for the duration of the tournament and a few days more, and it was OK ( not through Costco ) . So I guess every day is a new story on availability ... need to go back and check daily on your favorite travel sites , hopefully you get lucky .

Yup! ^_^ This is TA speak for 2 beds vs 1 bed. Of course, if you wind up with 4 people in a room with one king bed, think of how well bonded y'all be once the week is over!

Hello Friend Of Pokemon,

I recommend the Royal Kona Resort! It's a 40 minute drive away from the Hilton, however, book with a rental car and you'll save money plus have the freedom to enjoy the whole Island! For my experience: The Royal Kona is a bargain and is located in a very nice area!

All the best,
Deckmaster

IN 07, I stayed at the Aston Shores at Waikoloa. About a 7 minute walk for me (and I have bad legs). Totally worth it imo.

Quick FYI: Hilton Waikoloa Village is SOLD OUT through Costco Travel for the Pokemon World Championship dates. Time to get your Aloha on! ^_^
