Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Hippowdon lv.x

I ran it with a 3-3 Manectric PL line for a while, allowing me to abuse Groundquake indefinitely, specifically against SP. I built this deck as a Luxape counter and it worked pretty well, but unfortunately it was unable to beat Palkia lock no matter what I did. 1 Lunatone and 1 Regirock ought to allow you to get fighting into the discard then into play so it can be moved with Stark Mountain. Also make sure to abuse Upper Energy

If anyone's interested, I can give a rough list for the Hippowdon/Electivire thing I was playing around with.

I used to play Hippowdon alot. A fun tech I used was a 1-0-1 togekiss line. Using sand reset and then evolving togepi to use serene grace gets rid of your opponents energy and refills yours in the same turn. It worked well against decks that use a lot of energy and some flygon and SP decks but failed against decks like kingdra/beedrill/gyarados that dont rely on energy. It was a fun combo but I don't know if it would work competitively.

Oh, you're right. I was thinking of something else entirely. Thanks for catching me on that one.

You could play Hippo+Togekiss with Spiritombs as these cards complete each others awesomely, but it's pretty much whatever you do, you will run into problems against Gyarados. And I mean being-eaten-alive-kind of problems.

Togekiss is awesome after Sand reset when you have all your energies on the deck. Just remember to keep the Spiritomb up front when you're playing these powers against SP decks. Sand Reset + Serene Grace is the trump card of this deck, and should you fail delivering, the game will propably be over.

Against Gyarados, you would need something awesome (like 4 Wagers) to be able to reset the deck forcefully when you finally succeed on KOing a Gyarados. Then the only challenge is to succeed KOing Gyarados, which can be hard, providing it will be OHKOing Hippos left and right. Spiritomb + Devoluter could work.

I believe that Expert Belt makes Hippowdown more viable really.. you can hit 60 for 2 after the reset. Also, if you have a version w/ switches, you can lvl. up and switch to tomb.. use ur power w/o fear. but the attack for the turn would be in question

It might be a bit much.. but you can keep an Unown Q in your hand and put it on the Spiritomb after you reset. It's not like Unown Q has no utility outside of SP match-ups, either. Nor does Spritomb though, IMO, such a fast way to get Claydol out with a Roseannes.
