You're about 10 years late on this one.

Though, serious addition, what famous martial artist has the last name Top? Hitmontop totally screwed up the naming scheme.

Or has break dance moves as their fighting style, for that matter

^^ lol I figured that one out when Fossil came out xD

Hitmontop is some random char from Kung Fu Hustle or Shaolin Soccer XD!!!

Hitmontop is called so because it looks like one of those spinning tops. Yeah, it isn't named after some martial artist, but is the pre-evo Tyrouge named after one? I think not.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see Scizor chop off sum1's head... but yeah

Tyrogue = Rogue Mike Tyson

Wrong.

Wikipedia said:
Tyrogue (バルキー, Barukī?, Bulkie in original Japanese language versions) is a fictional character from the Pokémon franchise.

Tyrogue's name is derived from the words tyro, a term for a beginning student, referring to it being a pre-evolution of Fighting-type Pokémon, and rogue. The 'rogue' in Tyrogue's name most likely refers to its rogueish, loner personality.

Unfortunately, the great wikipedia can't even think of anything better than top for hitmontop.
