If I use Jirachi's Make a Wish and I search for an evolution, but I did not find the one I need. Do I still put 1 damage counter on Jirachi?

Search your deck for a card that evolves from 1 of your Pokémon and put it on that Pokémon. (This counts as evolving that Pokémon.) If you do, put 1 damage counter on Jirachi. Shuffle you deck afterward.

I think that since you searched your deck, you have to put a damage counter on Jirachi.
