First of all, I will shed some light on the situation I have here. I'm preparing for our Nationals, but having only a few opportunities to playtest my deck on a tournament scene (as I am judging just about all CCs and RCs we get here) I can't afford many mistakes in choosing the right deck. From my current point of view, decks that I should worry about at Nats (meaning decks that the most skilled players will play), include mainly LBS, ZRE, some Mercury, few Rock-Locks and maybe Liabilities. So I need a deck that will have a good matchup against the first two, RL and at least semi-decent against the other.

I looked at Ex: Holon Phantoms spoiler and the card that caught my eye was Pidgeot. Stopping all non-delta Powers sure is nice, especially when both LBS and ZRE depends heavily on them. RL is weakened without their searcher as well. It's attacks are not-so-bad so I decided for a 3-2-3 line of Pidgeot, mainly because I need at least 2 in play in case one gets POWed or Reversaled.

Now, here comes the problem. What to play with it? You can't play a searcher 'cause it would be stopped by your Pidgeot. Only delta searcher I found happened to be Metagross, who needs another Pokémon to help get back discarded energies. I tried MetaNite with Pidgeot but it just didn't work. As you can imagine, getting out 3 different Stage 2s without one of them being a searcher is way too tough and risky. So I searched a bit more and found the new Gyarados. Being a Stage 1, it would be relatively easy to get it into play in multiples, and 90 HP is also not bad. With 3 of them in play, you are doing 50 damage for 3 Energies OR if you play Boosts 110 damage for 3 Energies preferably turn 3. With that said, I present to you:

Delta Reaction

Pokémon 16:
3 Pidgey d
2 Pidgeotto d
3 Pidgeot d
4 Magikarp
4 Gyarados d

Energy 18:
4 Metal Energy
4 Boost Energy
3 Holon Energy GL
7 Lightning Energy

Trainers 26:
4 Holon Transceiver
2 Holon Mentor
2 Holon Scientist
2 Holon Adventurer
2 Pokémon Retriever
4 Celio's Network
3 Rare Candy
4 Holon Ruins
2 Protective Orb
1 ATM Rock

This list is completely un-playtested and will most likely require a lot of tweaking (honestly, its here just because the need for one). I am now mainly looking to find out whether or not is this deck in itself a good choice for the described metagame or whether I should run something else. I was thinking along the lines of Burning Liability.

spoilers for Holon Phantom can be found here: http://www.pokebeach.com/sets/jpnsets/holonphantom.txt

Another idea I had was to play a line of 3-2-4 Pidgeot with 2 RG and 2 HP. With that I could run a searcher against decks that would not or would only slightly be affected by HP Pidgeot. Of course that would require much different Pokemon then Gyarados. I was thinking maybe Metanite with bird instead of Cargo and one or two HP Pidgeots thrown in.

Last of my thoughts about HP Pidgeot concerned its attack. Using Holon Adventurer to discard a Holon Energy and then switching it with another Energy with Pidgeot's attack activating it's Pokébody in the process. The problem would be to protect the bird from being knocked down the following turn.

Thanks fow all input and help.

I didn't see pidgeot on the list. I saw pidgeotto and pidgey but not pideot.
What does it do.

I prefer Celio over Researcher as I dont have to discard a card (which may become a problem with so many Holon trainers) and most of the time I would be getting a Pokémon anyway.

You should consider a 1-1 or 2-2 Golduck d so they wouldnt be able to BF you.
That's right BF shuts you down

I personaly think that Gyaduck works great

my advice

-4 magikarp
+4 magikarp d

Then try to fit in 4 holon's castform. You could probably drop a few lightning energies. You also might want to put in 1 grass energy to go along with the holon gl

jk

he pretty much summed it up. On top of that you need to have the holon stadium for gyarados' power to work at all so you want the golduck to make sure you keep control
