Thank you Mike and Mia!

We appreciate all the time and effort you put into this event. We also know how hard you work to make sure the players have a good time and the events run smoothly. The Houston area is lucky to have you!

Thanks for the kind words and we're glad you had a good time. Thank you for attending.

Thanks to all that came out to the Houston Regionals. We had a great day of Pokemon FUN and a great venue that worked out well. We all missed College Park High School and we knew we would have smaller crowd because of the move but overall, everything worked out great.

Thanks to our moms and dads that helped out throughout the day. Excellent job done all around. Stepping up and helping out really makes the event so much easier. Thank you.

A HUGE thank you goes out to the judging staff. Most of my Regional judges were unestablished and unknown to players outside the Houston area. These judges have worked for me all year long in BRs and Cities. In my eyes they were not ready for Regionals but when push came to shove, I brought them up to the big show and they did a great job. When all the other judges across the region decided to play, it was these judges that stepped up and made Regionals happen. I learned something on Saturday and it's that I need to have more faith and not think I need high profile judges and PTOs on staff to have a successful event.

A BIGGER thanks goes out to Head Judge Jeff Harris. This man ROCKS, no doubt about it. Mia and I knew we made the right decision in selecting Jeff. He gave me a double take when I asked him to head judge but then simply said I'm up for it. And man, he was, he rocked the house from open to close. He even got in there and deck checked with all the other judges. When have you seen that in Texas? The man stood over the best players from our region and ended the day with a giant smile and a bag of fried chicken his wife made for him. Thank you Jeff.

Wow, all but one judge from Houston?

I know judges want to play, but that is WOW.

In Missouri (and I have to go and give my thanks thread there soon) I took pride in getting judges from Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky (well, almost), Tennessee and Arkansas, as well as the home of Missouri, so 7 states represented on the judging staff, which gave it a Regional feel.

Not criticizing Mike, as you and I both know that your events are top tier, and if they are good enough for you, then they were good enough!

Just expressing my amazement...Texas isn't that big of a state, and there were certainly players from all over the area...

Given the amount of comments (positive and negative) I have read, kudos to you on having a GREAT staff and taking care of what is, of course, a TEXAS sized event!!!

His wife made him fried chicken...hope Mike and Mia at least got a sniff!!! Note to my wife - FRIED CHICKEN GOOD!!

Woot and Chaw!

Yup, doesn't that sound good? A middle of the night snack of Fried Chicken????

I think it's funny that Mike just had to include that in his post, lol. But that's Mike for ya!

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

About THOSE comments , you know what they say: Consider the source; Take it with a grain of salt... and all that good stuff!

No worries though, it was an awesome event! :thumb:

I must say Texas events are amazing(even if they are the only ones I've been to). It was way better than I expected, and hope that this repeats year after year.

I had a lot of fun at this years Regionals! Minus all the fun that went on, I went 4-4 with MANLY Ga-Ga, but sad to say the judges in my opinion were not the best... Even though we had some judges seemed to be "new" at this. While in the tournament, I heard some of the players ask to see the compendium, as though they did not agree with the ruling that they were given, but the judge responded with "I don't need the compendium," being extremely positive with the ruling they had given, even though they were incorrect. For example, in one of the matches, Andy M. played Azelf and used the power Time Walk. The judge walked by, picked up the match slip, and said "So are you scooping?" The judge should not have interfered with the match, and waited to see if the match was done. This is only one of the many "bad" judging calls that took place. Hopefully, next year Regionals will improve from the mistakes that happened this year, and I am looking forward to it!
