Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

How many lighting & psychic for luxchomp

The follwoing pokemon take advantage of psychic energies in SP

Crobat G
Drifblim UD
Toxicroak Promo
Toxicroak G (not as prevalent as above 3)
Azelf (lol i'm serious)

I can't fathom running 4 of those pokemon and trying to get away with only 1 psychic nrg. I dunno about you guys but I'm not the biggest fan of autolosing to any deck cause I didn't feel like putting one more card (a basic energy at that) in my list. Trying to counter Machamp/Donphan (Your WORST matchup(s) by far) is so much easier by having flexible psychic energy count. No one plays Machamp and/or Donphan in your area? Good for you, looks like you can make your list more consistent by dropping Drifblim and both psychic energies. Only playing one of ANY basic energy is asking for it to get prized during a key match-up.

Promocroak is easy to get out of your prizes. Your lone psy energy though? Good luck, especially early game (and guess what, now you have to to devote a crucial bench spot to Time Walk just to know where your lone basic energy is, you might not even get a pokemon out!). I need more than two hands to count the amount of tourney matchups swayed by having my opponents counter have his lone basic energy prized. Lol, I've won two this year cause my opponents couldn't Poison Revenge my Luxray early game cause their lone psy energy was prized.

And aside from the G-dos matchup, I do so little attacking with Luxray with anyway I could probably get away with only 1 electric. The other ends up being discard fodder for Garchomp most games, who btw does most of the attacking and prize taking in my matchups.

Crobat is only used against Donphan which isn't really played that much with Gyarados.

Not everyone runs Drifblim.

Toxicroak G? No one runs it lol

Toxicroak G Promo? Well you it'll be prized 1 in 10 games. Then 1 in 3 games you'll play a Luxchomp at a CC. Not that big a deal.

Azelf? I nice idea, but not used that often.

So if you rarely use Luxray against SP, why do so many people play Toxicroak G Promo?

^^the TC says he runs drifblim and promocroak. I was giving him advice on what energies HE should run. Like I said, you dont play pokemon with psychic energy requirements then looks like you dont have to worry about it then.

Beats me why everyone plays promocroak. I'd argue that Dragonite+Ambipom is the play :thumb:
