How rare is Computer Search?

So everyone knows Computer Search by now right? It's a card that is being called "auto-staple" in most every deck. But of course one has to acquire said card and probably no one will trade it.

However I came to notice that no one at my league has even seen one. Not even 1 Computer Search out of the 15 boxes our store has burned through so far. We have found ALL secret rare cards (I got Altaria), a slew of Crystal ACE SPEC's and multiple Gold Potions. NO Computer Search AT ALL. Not even at nearby prereleases.

There is no way that 20-something players who frequent our store all have bad luck in terms of pulling Computer Search.

As acenine as this is, I beseech thee. HOW RARE COULD COMPUTER SEARCH BE? I mean seriously...

I dont think they are any rarer then any other ace specs. just have to get the good print run box. I pulled 2. One from my box and another at a prerelease. Its the full art supporters that seem to be hard to get.

I bought 3 and a half boxes and pulled 3 of them so not THAT rare. However, Bondaries Crossed was packaged very haphazardly and the ratios of all the cards are very off.

The average should be somewhere around 1 in every 2 boxes. It seems like there are 2 random Ace Specs in every box. Given that there are 4 Ace Specs in the set, and that the Ace Specs appear to be randomly distributed throughout the packs, it seems reasonable to assume that the average distribution of any given Ace Spec in the Boundaries Crossed set would be about 1 in 2 boxes.

Everyone says 1 every other box but again, 15 BOXES in our store. Goin' on 16. Not one Computer Search. Explain that. I know pull rates are funky these days but c'mon...

Well 1 every other box doesn't mean that their will be 1 every other box in your area :/

It could be in 1 box in another area then none in yours then 1 in another area and still none in yours. Although it could be the other way around.

(maybe you should try buying packs from other stores in other areas instead of buying them in one area.)

To me it seems that there is very poor product control with this set. While the ratios are a lot better then Dragons Exalted, what is in the box is just bad product control. In our prereleases here, only 1 EX pokemon was pulled in masses and those were Celebi EX in one prerelease and keldeo EX in another but there were a even amount of ace specs pulled with the most common being computer search. At another was crystal wall.

like other said, you have a chance of getting any ace specs cards in 1 in 2 boxes and they are very random. You just have to hope the printing press was printing computer searches when you go to buy your box. Good luck and happy hunting.

For goodness' sake...pull rates are set...what's not set is what specific ultra rares you pull...that's random...and random/=/even distribution.

Pull rates arent set though- Ultra Rare pulls have been all over the place. I have seen people pull 8 in one box- while I pulled 5 in 2 boxes and 4 in one- including the Ace Specs of course.

Aha, but no. Those are tolerable within the pull rates.

1-3 Ace Spec a box (Avg of 2)
1-3 Regular EX (Avg of 2)
1-2 FA/SR (Usually two)

The pull rates are set to an extent. There will always be outliers by default though.

I bit the bullet and paid 30 for mine off TrollandToad. The price is now like 25, but I had it in time
for the first set of CCs in my area. Got lucky off packs since I bought 25 and got 5 EXs + Gold
Potion.

The "least common" Ace Spec varies from place to place, but it's probably just bad luck or a result of you not having seen them pulled. (Why do people assume everyone displays every rare card they pull from a box, or even opens a box in public?) Around here, the least commonly seen one seems to be Gold Potion, but it's still pretty common.

I'm not sure, I opened two boxes and got a Computer Search in each (the extra one sold for $20), and I also got two Gold Potions and one Crystal Wall. I haven't seen a single Crystal Edge yet though.

I got 2 crystal edge and 1 crystal wall and haven't seen gold potion or computer search...

Bad luck and a relatively small sample size.

It's one every two boxes over the entire print run of boxes. There will be people who buy 3 boxes and pull 3 CPU Search. It all evens out.
