    i've decided that i like the card, so i want to find a way of making it work well;

you probably need a way to speed power it, but i don't really like alteria ex here.
the retreat sucks, so a 1-1/2-2 line of swellow d seems to be a good idea as well.

    any thoughts?

With infernape and lukario it will be killed easily and that is not good with an ex

altaria ex is the only real way to run him
and since why dont have reversal or any good bench bringer-upper and already have a hand control card, he really isnt worth playing

There are many decks that use Metagross ex, such as Binder and eBay, it's also a good tech in "Shiny Toilet Paper".

I've always liked this card, but try as I may, the 2x weakness to fire and fighting has proven a major kick in the crotch.

Find a way so I may use the 4 I have.

You can play 1 Metagross ex as a tech in your Garchomp lv X deck (once it's released) if your local metagame is dominated by 70 HP Pokemon swarm decks.

I also have always liked this card, but after looking at the dp4 cards, it's not worth useing.

I agree with Tego, probably the best way for Metagross EX to ever get going is to use him as a tech with Garchomp Lv X. Then he has both almost the necessary energy to attack and you can still use his Poke-Power.

    Psychic Trio / Chingling
    (Swampert Ex)
    Metagross Ex
    (Meganium d)
    4 Crystal Beach

Pull out Metals from your deck and pile them onto Metagross using Swampert or similar cards.
If Lucario is big in your area, use a large helping of the Psychic Trio to disable it. Infernape doesn't hit the bench, so it's possible for something like Swampert to KO two consecutive Apes if the Lv.X doesn't show itself.

If you make it to anything resembling a midgame, Metagross reliably beats Nidoqueen and non-Cess Blissey as they have to either play the evolutions or have them get shuffled back into their deck.

As soon as I read that, I said "I'm gonna use that in my sig!", but then the very next post did too, so people would think I'm being a copycat. I'm sad.:frown:

Ape one shots Metagross. Not good. Machamp and Lucario hit it hard. There are probably better stage2 ex's.

I played around with using Metagross Ex along with a 4-4-2-2 Empoleon Lvl X line. The thought being that if you do get set up you lock your opponent out of all of their cards every turn except what they draw off the top of their deck. I also played Magnezone with that to help everything with retraet costs and as a secondary attacker. The deck was very slow setting up and I rarely got more than one Lvl X out along with the Metgross Ex in the active spot (which pretty much locked that game for me anyways). Blastiose d (CG) was also used as a 1-0-1 tech to help with the weakness problems, but Cessation Crystal shut that down easily.

Blastoise d for weakness. Nidoqueen d for an extra attacker (vengence is good for lat game with boost), accelerates setup as well. Altaria Ex for covering weaknes and accelerates setup. Castaway with buffer piece and metal energies is helps you stay alive. Mawile PK is a nice starter to get basics and a devastating second attack? Metagross' power is a major hand disruption and can combo with steven's, wager, copycat, oak, rowan and anything else that would let you add to your hand, reshufle or hinder your oponents hand further. Warp point and switch help out so much. Warp is better because you can fors them to bring out the pokemon you want to hit. All you need after that is a good list and you have a succefully made a T3 Metagross Ex deck.
