How will they implement Mega Pokemon into the TCG?

Trader - sounds like it would be similar to MtG's flip cards back from the Kamigawa block - meet the criteria and you Flip the card around (a normal card would be upside down to you to generate a picture in one's mind)......the issue with that is the overall card design of pokemon and text size.....

Man, I was going to say that. Cram two cards into one face of the card, but unfortunately the people who lived through Kamigawa hated that.

Speaking of double face cards, DFC's did pretty well in MTG according to WOTC, and if TPCi were to follow suit, I hope they don't go the way of the checklist card, because checklist cards are stupid. Either that, or extra deck.

If they do do DFC's, it better be a temporary gimmick. If they do the extra deck thing, it can be permanent if they want it to.

I just want Mega pokemon to be a brand new mechanic, different from EX, and level X. If they made it like Level X, then they should just call it level X.

I have the best idea. Pokemon is for kids. Kids love stickers. The normal form would be the sticker, and the mega form would be under that sticker. I mean, the game is for kids right? Who cares if you can't stick it back haha.

Oh oh oh, kids also love oversized giant cards. Mega pokemon should only be oversized giant card.

Heck, it could even be an oversized giant sticker.

What would make most sense would be to play one of the stone cards as an item and search you deck for a mega evolution, assuming you have the regular pokemon in play already.

Mega will be a tool just like expert belt only it will be pokemon specific like victory piece. I imagine it will give the pokemon an extra attack or ability and increased HP at the expense of giving up an extra prize card when it is KO'd.

a sticker? really? that would be horrid for not only collectors, but for players (imagine sleeving and/or unsleeving). The general view reminds me of the Shamin King tcg a while back, the character's had a "pull" out with alternate stats/attacks and art. However, the mechanic was different as the character wasn't part of the deck.

I personally prefered the flip over the double sided cards.....

I doubt they'll bring back the exact lv x mechanic and call it "mega evolution" - but I see them making the new mechanic similar to the lv x one.....

heck for all we know, they could very well go a simplistic way and make the mega stones (specific ones), make you attack it to the appropiate pokemon and then mega evolve if it's your active. If it's benched, then the mega evolution goes back in hand.....based off the context of what we know about Mega evolution for the vid. games......

the problem with that is the new look of the pokemon, which is what makes pokemon, well pokemon. it's a new stage and thus should have art to show the new form.

Well according to the game rumors, you can only use ONE Mega-Pokemon on your team.
So going by this, maybe do an Ace-Spec Pokemon with only ONE in your deck.

Also apparently these "Mega Stone" things might be event driven (given away at places like GameStop).
So not everybody would have all of them.
