Never caught my breath
Every second I'm without you I'm a mess
Ever know each other
Trust these words are stones
why cuts aren't healing
Learning how to love

In your eyes
Like my first time
That I caught fire
Just stay with me
Lay with me
In your eyes
I lost my place
Could stay a while
And I'm melting
In your eyes
Like my first time
That I caught fire

Hello again everyone,

Just thought I'd post the newest deck I've been working on. I've had a lot of success with this deck and believe it to be a possible big contender. I grabbed a very close second with it yesterday at my first City Championship. Also, the song by The Used is a really good one, so go check it out, k? Anyways, here's my deck.

Tytan
Modified Format

Pokemon: 20
4 Plusle (DX)
4 Cyndaquil (UF)
3 Quilava (UF)
4 Typhlosion (UF)
2 Pidgey (RG)
1 Pidgeotto (RG)
2 Pidgeot (RG)

Energy :16
10 Fire
4 Holon FF
2 Double Rainbow

Trainers: 22
4 Celio's Network
4 Rare Candy
3 Steven's Advice
3 Copycat
3 Energy Root
3 Desert Ruins
1 Rocket's Admin
1 Mr Briney's Compassion
1 Ancient Technical Machine: Rock
1 Holon Farmer

Strategy: This deck is based on a combo of three cards. Typhlosion, Energy Root, and Holon FF. I'll type each out, so you can see what they do.

Typhlosion - Stage 2 Fire Pokemon - 110 HP
PokeBODY: Burning Aura: As long as Typhlosion is your active Pokemon, put 1 damage counter on each Active Pokemon (both yours and your opponents) between turns.

R: Flickering Flames: 20 The Defending Pokemon is now Asleep
RCC: Rage: 50+ Does 50 plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on Typhlosion.

Weakness: Water
Resistance: -
Retreat: 1

Energy Root - Trainer - Pokemon Tool
(Attach Energy Root to one of your Pokemon that does not already have a Pokemon Tool attached (excluding Pokemon ex or Pokemon with Dark in its name). If the Pokemon Energy Root is attached to is a Dark Pokemon or Pokemon ex, discard Energy Root.)

As long as Energy Root is attached to a Pokemon, that Pokemon gets +20 HP and cannot use Pokemon Powers or PokeBodies.

Holon Energy FF - Special Energy Card
Holon Energy FF provides C. If the Pokemon Holon Energy FF is attached to already has a Basic Fire energy also attached, then that Pokemon has no weakness. If the Pokemon Holon Energy FF is attached to already has a Basic Fighting Energy attached, then ignore resistance when that Pokemon attacks.

So, there's what each card does. The strategy is basically Typhlosion swarm. Attach the Holon FF against Water decks to give you no weakness. Attach the Energy Root so Burning Aura does not damage you, and takes your Typhlosion to 130 HP. So basically, this combo gives you a 130 HP Pokemon with no weakness that does massive damage back to the Defending if it is attacked. I run an extra Pidgeot line in there to help with the Drag/Meta matchup. I can attach a Fire/Holon FF to Pidgeot and go after Dragonite. The Double Rainbows allow you to catch up if you fall behind. The Trainers are pretty simple to follow, basic draw, Energy Root needed for the combo to work, Desert Ruins as a counter stadium, Rare Candy for speed. I actually played 2 Briney yesterday for the City Championship, but rarely found myself using more than 1. So I decided to add in an ATM Rock for the excessive amounts of Rare Candying I see. I also might make it a 4th Candy or an Admin. Not sure yet. Well, there you go, there's my new deck, and honestly, I think it's the best original idea I think I've ever made. What are your thoughts?

*goes off to listen to The Used*

Edit: Changed Pidgeot line back to 2/1/2 from 3/1/3, and added 4th Candy and 1 Rocket's Admin

Thanks guys,

Jake, I did try the Scramble Energy, but it's not often I'm behind on prizes to capitalize on the usage of it. Kevin, I found that I really only Briney once per game. I'll keep playing with it though.

Anyone else? This deck is pretty good y'know. :p

Tech heal energy.
You play no exs, and there are a lot of times a tech heal will be awesome, not to mention your lack of switches/warps

1/1 weezing, just in case? They knock out your typhlosion with a giant, ugly, fully-powered heap of nastiness, you put up pidgeot, slap down koffing, candy to weezing, energy, retreat, liability, activate another phlosion for the ko? Also works peachy with desert ruins....

Beats Gatr -ex....

Or too situational?

You know, Fulop suggested a 1/1 Weezing line too. However, I just don't know. I mean, it does work in some situations, but it's very rare I cannot take something out in one hit myself. Ryan, I think I will try 1 Heal Energy too, actually. I mean 9 Fire is enough, especially since Typh needs 1 only. And thanks Matt.

Anyone else have anything else to add?

~Jim

You could try also to use typhlosion ex, and combined with rayquaza ex(DX), and pidgeot, believe me, its just awesome.

Ah i really liked this deck, but i think scramble energy would really help you out, you could always just take out a fire for it :/

Its awesome enough as it is, but personally I would go -1 Steven's, +1 Copycat. Copycat seems to be the most reliable draw in the format right now and Steven's has lost some of its value of old. Also I prefer Retriever to Farmer and I'd try to work in a 4th Ruins, but these are just minor structural differences. As for Weezing, I don' think its worth lowering your consistency for it, its a bit too situational.

Good luck with the deck, and btw I love that song :thumb:

A tech 1/1 line, why not? You already run typhlosion, you could plop a koffing, RC it(almost queen-esque, dropping the basic and RCing it instantly for play that turn), energy, retreat, OHKO a big hitter.

It can give you a nice advantage, OHKO for one energy if they're a beefhouse.

why not drop the candies altogether and fatten up the evo lines ?

-4 candy
+ quilava
+pidgeotto
+admin
+copycat

Alright, lots of replies!

Jake: Yeah, I will go with the Scramble after thinking about it. Not quite sure yet about Weezing though. Great to get props from you though, means a lot.

Rodney: Well yeah...no.

Carlos: Yeah, I have a deck like that too. Michael B, a good pal of mine revised it up and won the City Championship last weekend. I just prefer Typhlosion UF over Typhlosion ex because I have only 20 less HP, no weakness with Holon FF, and a pretty nice attack too. Having weakness to Water and Fighting isn't exactly a great thing.

Hypno: Thanks! And The Used does rock. Not nearly as much as Trapt or Yellowcard, but hey, what are you gonna do?

Patrick: Thanks brudda! And yeah, I am going to go with Jake and your idea of putting a Scramble back in. I think it would help out the more I think about it.

Ryan: I am still testing around with Weezing. I mean it seems like it would be great, but I just do not need it very often. But, I am going to fit 1 Heal Energy in there. Great idea, thanks.

Dom: Thanks for your input, yeah, right now I like the drawing engine I have because it's always worked for me. But thanks for your kudos. Great hearing props from a great player like you.

NoPoke: Yeah, basically what Ryan later said. :D T1-2 Pidgeot is like a gift from the gods.

Jim. Hey, nice deck.

I kind of stumbled into this at league when I realized I was playing my son's typhlosion EX deck that he traded the Typhlosion EXs and Moltres out of.

Only then did I realize the power of Typhlosion, and I wasn't using Energy Root or FF yet!

Then I turn to the boards, and like pennies from Heaven, here is a post on a close Typhlo deck.

I know this is not your playstyle, but what would you think about the following (for my playstyle)

1. going with Magcargo instead of Pidgeot....I know you don't like, but I have always preferred the fire snail. That's why I get to judge Nationals and Worlds, and you get to play in them eh?

2. Teching a Moltres EX. Seems when I am in trouble, I can always use a confusion attack to "set my opponents back:

3. Adding in a 1-1 Electrode EX line, and using POW (not scramble). We had that in the Typhlo EX deck, and the ability to POP early game and disrupt setups was HUGE.

Note, I am not suggesting you change your deck, just looking for suggestions as I move mine forward.

Thanks

Vince

How often is 4 FF Energy really needed? Even vs Water, I would only see 2 or 3 necessary, but 4 seems overkill
Also, Holon Farmer gets back Energy right? If so...
-1 FF
+1 Fire
-2 Fire
-1 Quilava
-4 Plusle
+2/2 Weezing
+3 Great Ball

I find Plusle useless when you play no Electric or swoops....I like that change, adding L's, or swoop's...

Vince: Woot chaw! lol, hey there! Hmmm, as far as your ideas/comments go. First with Magcargo, if I play Magcargo I don't have a Colorless attacker that can go up against nasty stuff like Salamence or Dragonite. (I can protect Pidgeot with Fire and Holon FF) Also with Cargo, I have to play Switch cards because getting stuck with him Active hurts. I mean Pidgeot is such a great backup attacker in addition to its power, which is why I like Pidgeot over Cargo. I do have Moltres ex in my Salamence Delta deck, but I just don't like it in here for some reason. I mean, then I'd have to cut my Desert Ruins, or add another Stadium or something. That's my biggest problem there. Electrode ex/Pow is such a good idea in so many decks, but I'm really not sure. I mean the synergy gets kinda disrupted. Now, I know you said these changes do not really apply to my above decklist, but I'm talking in terms of what I know with this decklist. I've practiced with it for weeks, and notice some trends and things as far as gameplay (which, I'll keep to myself because I still compete with this deck ;D). If you'd like to PM or IM me with ideas on how to build a varient, I'd be more than happy to give you a hand anytime. Hope the rugrats are all doing well.

Sean: Hmmm. I really don't know about those changes. I am still so iffy on Weezing. Also, Holon FF is really needed in quantities of 4. At least to me. I mean I'm a very careful player and do not hoping for Topdecks or things of that sort. Early buildup is critical, and water can really hurt if you cannot get the FF (especially if no Pidgeot or if it's disabled). Besides, Typhlosion requires one Fire to attack with Flickering Flames or Rage, so it's not a big deal. Also, I like Plusle a lot. I'd play Multi, but then Holon FF wouldn't work because I need Base and because Multi would turn off. I don't mind sacrificing Plusle early and attaching the Scramble and even up the score or something. Great Ball and I have never really mixed.

Brent: Too many to count. Seriously. lol

~Jim

If you try out L energy in here, Rayquaza ex wouldn't be a bad idea with it either then...I know 4 will speed up the chances of getting a FF, but it also adds the chance of that having to be your only energy for Plusle...4 is overkill imo, I can't think Ludi would get 4 ludicolos setup against you ;/
