Mabye this isnt the right place to ask it, but can you guys go to parties, not drink, and still have a good time? or do you have to drink to have fun , let me know your opinion

I'm sorry, but drearily so.
It's a scientific fact that white people (assumption being made here about your race) cannot dance.*
Drinking makes you think you can.
Drinking makes you think others can and are.
Therefore, drinking enables the Caucasian mating ritual known as "grinding" (note: separate from the 'Dirty South' usage which connotes engaging in illegal activities in pursuit of amassing reasonable equity in jewellry).

I don't go to parties.
But I have a great time anyway.

Introversion ftw.

A physiological addiction to Starcraft does not count. :p

@ Forte -- to each his own. I don't personally, but it's for my own reasons independent of moral judgments. If you never want to touch it, cool, don't. If you want to try it once, see what you think of it. Really, the only moral code you should hold yourself to is your own (before anyone tries to start a religious argument on me, I'm taking the stance that the moral code of your religion is your own because you reify the concept of your God with your belief therein).

In today's age and society many must drink loads of intoxicants in order to feel like they are having a good time, I do not drink and do not socilaize with drinking so by a default that is entirely of my own relucant choosing I'll probably remain single and sober for the rest of my days. Drinking is for losers and not drinking makes you a loser (when it comes to getting 'some') and don't bother trying moderation because drinking means you're getting drunk or not getting drunk there is no happy middle ground or if there is it never lasts long and inevetibly leads to tettering to drunkiness.

No, you don't have to drink to have fun. If you're feeling pressure to drink around your friends, they're probably not the type of people you want to hang around anyway (or at least not in that situation). If you want to drink, drink, if you don't want to, don't. It's completely up to you.

I completely disagree with this, however. There are tons of people who only drink certain drinks in moderation (such as myself) or only drink socially (in moderation as well). It's ignorant to think that it's either you never take a sip of alcohol in your life or you're a raging alcoholic.

I don't even own Starcraft. lol

More on topic, there's three levels of drinking that should be recognized, as kwisdumb touched on.
- Not drinking. (me.)
- Drinking in moderation. It's casual, it's gentle, it's just a social thing.
- Drinking in excess, getting drunk, etc.

I'm not sure where "needing to drink to have fun" fits. I think it varies. If it's further to the third group, you probably shouldn't be around that group. If it's pretty safely in the second group, you could try. I personally won't - I have something of a phobia of screwing with my brain cells...

thanks guys!

where I come from, that being the redneck province of saskatchewan (canadian gold ftw) in my small highschool (about 40 kids in my grade, theres no house parties, no "lets go see a movie" its partying in some farmers field, burning pallets, getting wasted with a trucks doors open blaring the black eyed peas, "i gotta feeling" among other heavy beat music with references to alcholhol and you know what

ive been to alot of these parties, usually as the DD, for ppl who've been done since 6 oclock, and seen what alchohol does, and was wondering if it was worth trying

lol I like that,

mabye Ill try it. im still kinda on the fence, I want to know though, is there anyone on here who's graduated from high school that regrets drinking / not drinking as a teen, who would tell me their story??

I like to have fun, and if I party I like to drink. To anyone that says "I don't drink cuz its soooo uncool to be drunk" then good for you. I respect the wishes of those who don't drink, and never offer it. I am the same with cigarettes--never had them, never will. Does it make me uncool? Well I enjoy my lungs, so no. Drinking in moderation is ok (when safe). Drinking enough to destroy your liver, not ok.

So to answer the OP, it is not uncool to not drink. Just don't bring the others down who do drink to have fuuuuun. :)

I CAN tell you that, although I was not a terribly social person in high school, everyone I knew who openly drank at parties in high school is "screwed up" in some way in their life, and there are only a couple people out of probably a dozen or two who drank in high school that are surviving it without any problems.

And I think all of them except one or two (who drink in extreme moderation) would tell you it's overrated.

I still dream of the day when im at a party laying some game on a chick and she asks me about pokemon organized play rating /flex

I don't drink either, and never will. Yeah I get made fun of because of my choices but I don't care since I always carry my DS on me.

However, I'm also a comedian so I can be fun at parties or when hanging with friends. Just find something positive that works for you and your friends that helps have a great time.
