Ice Barrier / Sniping

Hi there are a lot of threads about latios ex d's Ice barrier attack but yesterday at the Regionals I was told that I couldnt use Shiftry ex's target attack to hit a benched mewtwo on the turn that Latios ex had used Ice Barrier. Is that correct?

Latios ex d:
Ice Barrier: Prevent all effects of an attack including damage done to Latios ex d by your opponents pokemon ex during your opponents next turn.

Ice Barrier only protects Latios ex. (Sometimes it can offer a kind of protection to others, for example, if the opponent's attack would switch Latios ex and the other Pokemon...it requires Latios ex to be ...affectable - that's not a real word.)

I don't know the entire situation, if there were other effects protecting your opponent's Bench.
