Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

If you're not angry...

So why do we always have to look at the negative? Things in many ways are better now then they ever have been. Medicine is very advanced. We have far more than any other generation before us has had. When people say "the good old days" they really don't think about what their saying. Do you know how many people died during childbirth in the colonial period that today a simple C section would have kept them alive? I'm getting so tired of hearing how we are living in such a terrible world. The world is only as good as you want it to be. If everyone wants to focus on the negative then please do, but we would all be much happier if we actually focused on the positive things for once. I'm not saying we should ignore the problems we have, but why do we constantly have to complain about them? If you don't like the world, do something to make it better.

I can't do much. I'm just a teen. Sure, I can do my part to help the envirenment. And I do. But that won't make it all better. I didn't mean to come across as Gloomy Gus, looking at everything negatively. I agree, this world is amazing place. Its so beautiful, and the advances being made in modern technology today are fascinating. I'm not saying I hate this world. But have you ever noticed, even a little bad can ruin an entirety of good? Y'know how the phrase goes, not sure of the exact wording, but how you get 1 fly in the oinment and ruins the whole thing? Bad things have a habit of reproduction in a world full of sin and hatred. As long as there is bad that is reproducing thats affecting YOU, HOW can you look at how great the world is? I'm sorry, but paying 4 dollars for a gallon of gas? Every night seeing the news, and how its become a suprise to NOT hear how someone has been murdered in your local area? Hearing about how the death toll of US troops in Iraq recently reaching 4000?! Oh yeah, this world is GREAT! I am not saying we need to always look at things positively, or always look at them negatively. Its just hard for me personally to always look and think about how great the world is when there are things like I just stated, and they are directly affecting my country. If you don't feel this way somewhat, you need to decide whose side your on.

You do realize that the News always puts on the worst things they can find and way over hypes them? It's their job, and it sells. There are just as many or more good things going on, but they just don't show them.

I realize that. I'm talking about like local nightly news. And so what? Even if they milk it, a murder is still a murder. Its not like I see NOTHING in this world to be thankful for. As I said, I DON'T HATE THE WORLD. I realize there many more things. But I was just talking about that in my last post. Even if there is so much more good, a little bit of bad that directly affects you seems to dampen the good.

48,231,700. That is how many died from WW2. Things could be much much worse than they are. The world isn't a perfect place. News companies really only put on negative news. They don't even attempt to put a positive spin on anything.

How do they get the straw for the baskets? Unless they're a local Amish chapter, it STILL requires some form of oil or gasoline for either the materials, processing, or distribution.

Living near a Forest provides them with the raw material. People do not run on gasoline, so niether the processing or labor require gasoline. I already said they ride bicyles, so the distribution does not either.

And incidently, this was meant as a joke. So if you reply to this saying I'm bieng unrealistic or some other BS, I will PM you a picture of an orange. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Ummmm... that's not their job. Their job is to report NEWS. Things that happen in the real world. The real world has murder, ****, starvation, racism etc etc. How, and why must any of that be put positively? We have to face the real harsh world everyday, no need in trying to cover it up. Being naive isn't safe or smart. [Def. not saying you! :)]

Who said it's being naive? If you actually think they just report the news then you should come out from under the rock you've been living under. If they just reported the actual news, the would just give us a bunch of numbers and a rundown of what happened. And if you haven't noticed nothing positive is ever on the news. It's not being naive to actually want to hear some good news.

^ Agreed 100%. They put on MUCH more than News, and put a spin on it to get ppls intrest. Think about it, what would sell more papers or get more viewers?

A. Local curch helps family.

or

B. Over 300 die in explosion.

Probably B. so thats what they put, and they often will over hype things to get even more out of it.

You know why? Because its a bigger deal! Its not that they're jerks who wanna make the world look bad. Obviously, they will report the more serious matter. Not to get a big hype over, but because its the news! Its important for people to know. Why don't you people get it? Sure the world is positive. But especially you drmario, why don't you understand that the bad, outweighs the good? There isn't anything to be positive about when something negative, but huge is happening elsewhere. I assume weall remember 9/11 right? How would it look if they talked about that, then some local festival or someone/some people doing a good deed? Again, I realize there is a lot of good in this world. And I don't care if things could be a lot worse, that doesn't mean I should forget about whats going on now. Does it?

Well, you know what they say, "No news is good news." Am I doing it right?

Seriously though, no one cares that Boy Scout A helps old lady across the street. Bad stuff gets reported because it's generally more important for people to know about rather than constantly patting people on the back for being good citizens.

So to what end would positive news actually inform the public of something important? Personally, I'd rather hear about problems and other negative news so I'd know what to watch out for. If there was an earthquake warning, and a bake sale taking place somewhere in the city, which one would you rather be informed about?

^ Exactly.

^ There is more good than bad, but they only put the bad stuff on.

DarthPika, it doesn't matter that there is just as much good as bad. Stop making me repeat myself. For the last time, bad happenings are bigger and more important than good happenings. Do you think I don't get what your saying? I think its you that doesn't get what I'm saying. The news channels aren't going to report anything good as long as there is something bad. Why? Again, because the bad outweighs the good as far as importance. How do you think you would feel if the headlines of your newspaper were not about 9/11 when that happened, again just to use an example. Can't you grasp that even if the ratio percentage of bad to good in this world was 20%-80%, the bad would still be shown on the news? Its not because they would get a bigger hype out of it, its because ITS MORE IMPORTANT, AND PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW.

Bad events are the ones we need to be informed of. If I get hit by a tornado because they decided to go and film footage of Little Jimmy's Birthday Party, I would be beyond ticked off.

I would rather people heard about my birthday party, ty.
But yeah, news is depressing because most of the happy stuff is irrelevant to the average person, good for sneaking in occasionally for "warm fuzzies". Outside of that, useless.
