Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

IGN Gives Skyward Sword 10/10 - Best Zelda Game Ever

I'm about 12 hours in, and I can say with out a doubt that it is the single best Zelda game, I've ever played. It's far superior to OoT in just about every way imaginable. Probably the best game I've played, period.

Just wait until you get to the 3rd temple.... By then you'll really have warmed up to the controls, and be absolutely floored by the dungeon design. The first 2 are very good as well, but man.... the 3rd temple is simply spectacular, and I've heard from my friend that it only continues to pick up from there. Can't wait! (yes... it really takes about 12 hours to get to/ finish 3 temples)

You weren't kidding. I'm on the way to the fifth dungeon now, and I think I'm sold on this being the best Zelda yet with everything they keep throwing at me...especially the fourth dungeon, and the way to the fifth.

There aren't any spoilers here. Obviously there might be SOMETHING you might consider a spoiler if you read anything about a game you haven't played, but I really don't see anything that would be considered spoilers here. I'm not going to change the topic header, since it's a (as much as you can possibly get) spoiler free thread. I think people should be (hopefully) smart enough to realize there might be something they would consider spoilers in a thread like this. lol

Edit: At the final boss. Super impressed with the entire game, especially how challenging various aspects of it have been. Boss fights have by far been the best of any 3D Zelda so far, with several being quite difficult that WILL result in multiple game overs if you neglect (like I often do :p) to carry around a fairy/potion.

If you don't have the game already, get it. It's well worth the money. The orchestral CD that comes with it is super awesome as well, and very high quality. I can't begin to imagine how much it cost them to give out the free CD, and to be honest, I think it is nothing more than a thank you gift to the fans, as they gain nothing from doing it.

On the topic of the CD, after listening to what TP sounds like with a real orchestra, I can say with out a doubt that it has the highest quality soundtrack of any Zelda game to date, even beating out SS. The music is just SO well written for that game, everything else pales in comparison. It's really a shame that they didn't use a real orchestra for that game. I really hope that the next Zelda sees a return to that style of music (the most fitting for zelda IMO), with a full orchestra and choir, with no midi tracks at all.

how many dungeons are there total?

I got past the first 3 with the stone tablets, and now chasing junk for enhance my sword.

Not only is there the main quest, after you beat it, you can replay the game in hero mode, which is supposedly very difficult. So, there's easily 100+ hours of game play available to you. There are some things I miss about a more open over world, but the rest of the content by far makes up for anything that was lost by removing it.

I just got to the 5th dungeon and Skyward Sword is well on it's way to tying OOT for second on my "Favorite Zelda list". The until the end of the first temple (one of my least favorite dungeons. Ever.) I wasn't very impressed with the game. Past the first few hours though, it turns really epic. My only gripe with the game so far is that it is pretty easy. But that's before I knew about hero mode (Sweet! I did a total of 0 research before I bought the game because I wanted to be surprised).

So far I love Skyward Sword but I'm not going to judge it being better than OOT or WW (my favorite) until after I see what the post-game is like.

oh wait till you start getting to the end, it seals the deal on it being the best Zelda game ever.

I am trying to find out where the game takes place in history though.

I thought it kind of had that Link to the Past feel to it and perhaps does it take place at that time period?

OR does it take place before Ocarina of time?

I just dont know.

It HAS to be before of OoT because it is the story of how the mastersword came to be. If this game was after OoT, OoT could not exist, since there would be no mastersword yet.

I dunno, there's too much up in the air to say that IMO, but I don't feel like debating that, though I will point out time travel.

Anyway just beat the game and...AWESOME!!! Absolutely awesome! The game really ended on a high note, and I'm probably going to get to playing the Hero quest later, but first to finding an OST.

Did you actually beat SS?

I did.

I never did try Hero mode.

I thought this was the most challenging Zelda game around, although quite predictable, but with playing Zelda games since 1980s, you can pretty much anticipate what needs to be done in every Zelda game nowadays when played.

I will say though in playing SS, thats the first Zelda game or any game on Nintendo for that matter that felt so much like an MMO, SS might be proof such an MMO could survive today if done right.

There's multiplayer involved in SS?

Or are you using MMO as a bad way of expressing "RPG"?

I wouldn't say it was predictable, especially at the end with the last quest. I was seriously thinking the game was approaching its end when I completed the last dungeon, and then it sprung that on me, which BTW was and awesome part IMO, but still was nothing like previous editions in that way.

No I mean that SS felt like an MMO.

Meaning its a game I could vision people other than myself running around in the game doing different things.
as one a long time player of World of Warcraft, SS felt like it had that formula of WOW to some extent, skyloft = Iron Forge, then you got different dungons, not as massive as WOW but if you played WOW, you could see some of its characteristics in SS.

I didnt want it to end, but after the last dungeon I think with learning the songs and all I though it was nearing the end, but it dragged on for 2-3 more hours it seemed, not a bad thing by any means.
