Iron Defense vs Swift

Bastiodon PL uses Iron defense (Iron Defense - Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all effects of an attack, including damag, done to Bastiodon during your opponent's next turn) and flips heads, The opponent attacks with Staryu using Swift (Swift - This attack's damage isn't affected by Weakness, Resistance, Poke-powers, Poke-Bodies, or any other effects on the Defending Pokemon.)

My friend thinks that Iron Defense should prevent the effect of Swift and take no damage. I told him Swifts effects over rides the effect of Iron defense.

Who is right and please explain.

Iron Defense is an effect placed on Bastiodon. Swift ignores effects on the Defending Pokemon. You can compare the rulings on Agility and Swift to those of Iron Defense.
