Is Aromatisse/Gardevoir viable without Max Potion (for XY-on)

I've been thinking of getting back into the game so I've been looking around at decks that will survive the rotation after worlds. Aromatisse/Gardevoir seems like a nice deck but I'm wondering how viable it will be without Max Potion in the format. Any thoughts?

The main problem Gardevoir decks have is having an energised and attacking M Gardevoir EX get KOed, losing 3 energy in the process.

Max Potion is mainly run to ensure you don't lose your Energy bank too quickly.

Once Roaring Skies comes out, Mega Turbo will be able to accomplish largely the same goal. It will also be slightly faster than Max Potion builds, but it will lose some mid/lategame stability due to having to give up more prizes, in general, than current builds.

So yes, I think M Gardevoir EX will stay relevant even after Max Potion rotatoes.

I think the deck struggles a bit without it. It will need to be tested because a Mega Turbo is not a max potion. As seen with tournament play, and my own personal experience, if you can't find a max potion, you just lose in most cases. You need 3 energy to use your best attack, and have more energy in play. The deck has no problem finding energy but the deck needs healing and with this new Raymin deck, you lose your attackers in one turn. There are healing option you can try such as the new potion but you may have to test super scoop up.

I for one am glad to see the card leave if we get the rotation because cores should be breakable and max potion kind of interferes with game balance. I think the new game with the deck should be to play a 5 prize game with this deck. Like a Stealth Rock lead, you normally let it go down just to get your rocks up so you are playing a 5 Pokemon game. Lead with Xerness and just hunt energy and attack when the time is right.

I've heard of a 7 prize game, but what does a 5 prize game mean?

I play a lot of Pokemon VG and they have leads that have the purpose of setting up and dying, leaving you 5 pokemon left. It would be a 7 prize game in the tcg in the best possible setup but can be 5 if your setup Pokemon go down too fast.

I do feel the 7 prize game term is a bit outdated since EX Pokemon fall just as fast as non EX Pokemon.
