Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

is it worth buying hgss

Alright people - please remember, this is a discussion. Please provide information on the subject. Pros, cons, reasoning.

Now, for my personal opinion - HeartGold is the way to go.
It is the one that has Kyogre, the #1 threat for the Video Game Championships. In addition, Ho-Oh is quite the attacker and the only pokemon that can learn Sacred Fire - the only attack with 50% burn rate.

I love soul silver, only for the memories, and the beast in the form of lugia, but in the end hg is the way to go for reasons posted above.

I bought both, like I always do.

I have played through Gold so far. Great game. I have G/S/C from the old style games, but battery issues never allowed me to play them farther than I could get in one sitting.

Having 2 regions and the assorted badges / pokemon / trainers to battle makes a more fulfilling game IMO, since it takes longer to get through the game.

Also, getting to go head to head agains Red (Ash) and whoop him is pretty cool too.

I have no recommendation for either game, since normally you cannot get both legends - Lugia / Ho-Oh - but in these you can.

The only diff in legends is Groudon / Kyogre.

I got SS, but that's because I love Lugia. And in SS, Latios appears eventually, HG gets Latias.

BTW EeveeLover, Red is not Ash, they are different people. Blue is also not Gary.

Ash is based off Red, and Gary is based off blue. So in theory the correct thing to say is that Ash is Red, but Red is not Ash lol...

Although anyone with a lv 80 Pikachu more or less deserves the title of Ash

But Ash's Pikachu has to be over lv 9000 by now...

Anyways, it doesn't REALLY matter all that much on which game you want, they're both good and have almost identical pokemon.

EDIT. Also, Gary is based off of Green. ;P

I bought both because Lugia is a cooler looking Pokemon than Ho-oh. But HG seems like a better choice because in my opinion HG has better version exclusive Pokemon than SS does.

In my experience, the first one in the title, such as HG or Diamond, etc, has always been better in a little way. For example in the Diamond underground, iirc Firestones, Thunderstones, and Waterstones were common and in Pearl, Leafstones and Moonstones were common and the other 3 were an uncommon find. How is that fair? Maybe you're thinking its balanced out somewhere else but I don't think so. Let me know if I'm wrong. Even the version exclusives Pearl was lacking. The only good version exclusive Pokemon for Pearl was imo Bagon.

But I digress, so far I haven't found a reason for SS being better other than having the cool looking Lugia.

instead of being mean..just answer the question...

kygore is obtainable in heart gold. groudon is in soul silver.

If he isn't even going to take the time to read the thread, why should I? Besides, I DID answer it. I pointed him to the first post.

Anyway... in all truth, if you plan to be competitive and can only get one version, the one you pick should most match up with what other Pokemon games you already have access to (for example, if you don't have Emerald/Ruby, getting HG means you can't get Groudon at all). Figure out your availabilities on legends and go from there.
