Is One Piece Really That Good?

So A lot of Anime Sites Have One Piece Ranked as their Number 1 Anime, I really didnt like it.
But its 417 episodes deep and number 1 on all these sites, why is that?

Probably the most views/downloads. 417 is a LOT. That's almost as much as Pokemon, and more than each individual DragonBall series. It's not a terrible anime. I just don't particularly like the art style or the animation. The story is pretty decent...

-The story is good.
-The power-ups are believable
-The alternative art style is very awesome.
-The protagonist is endearing, and the antagonists are all very interesting.
-Oda gets into some fun elementary philosophy, such as "who determine justice," what price people pay to be free, etc...
-Unlike Bleach and Naruto, One Piece's chapters do a good job of cramming events and action in; it's a satisfying read that doesn't make you say "is that it?"

And, to top it all off, both the anime and manga are dealing with a war right now.

Most people say that they don't like One pIece because of the art style. Personally, I really like it. And Cyrus hit the nail on the head.

Yeah One Piece is amazing, I'm not an avid Manga reader but I have been watching the Anime for it lately and it's pretty good. I think to get the best out of the series If you watch it from Episode 1 up to now you'll see how great of a diverse series it is.

I still think it's a shame that it didn't get as much recognition here in the U.S. as it did in Japan no thanks to 4Kids who ruined the English dub for it. FUNimation won't even air their version on TV however you can only catch their episodes on the internet.

I would've REALLY loved to have played a TCG based on One Piece but Bandai screwed theirs up for Naruto and with Score Entertainment out of business there's no way to get the game rolling. So now were stuck with 2 TCG's based on popular Anime/Manga series Pokemon and Naruto. Sad I know...

The Bleach TCG was fun for awhile until we'll you know...

The Japanese version is what makes OP awesome.

I can't stand the English version, it is absolutely terrible.
Never watched the Japanese version.

Which English version? There are two. The 4Kids version (which is terrible) and the Viz version (which seems to be a transcribed Japanese version).

Watch the new Viz version instead. I think it's running on either CArtoon Network, or can be found on their website (either CN or Viz).

I think the One Piece anime by Funimation is only available on DVD, but they put up their subs on Hulu as well.

The 4kids dub did a REALLY good job of destroying the franchise in America as marketable.

oh, it was Fun? Whatever. Anything's better than 4kids.....

There are DVDs available by both, although the 4Kids ones skips a LOT, including fillers and even some islands that are important to the story later one. I think the Funimation one is unedited and says so on the covers. It is also released as "Seasons" instead of the usual nonsense where you get 4 episodes for $30.

Funimation.com/video for subs and dubs of One Piece...

FYI, there is no VIZ version to watch. Unless you mean read.

because it really is just that good. Of course there are gonna be some people that don't like it, but I am pretty sure a show that has had 4 or 5 years of run time with out yet being canceled and a manga that has been going on for 6 years would not be that bad and even be of high critical acclaim but that's just my opinion

Actually Lehuere, its double that. The anime has been running for 10 years, and the Manga for 12.

12 years? Yeah, that sounds right. 562 chapters so far, probably about 48 or so chapters a year, 12 years of manga. Not sure on the anime, tho.

When was it released in the States? he might be counting from that date...

Whitebeard is Chuck Norris, Jack Lalane, and "the God-damned Batman" all in one; there is NO sicker fictional character atm.

He's that strong despite the fact that (according to the other characters) he's weakened over time. I'd like to have seen him at an earlier time (say, 10 years previous).
