Hi!
My name is Hampus and I live in Sweden.
Our Prerelease was supposed to be tomorrow,on the 17th of May, but the organizers didn't get the cards yet. So we have Prerelease on the 24th of May instead.
Our nationals is on the 30th of May, and RR will be allowed.
Do you guys think this is fair to us, the players?

We in Holland have the same issue with cards arriving late while having a RR on Nats. Though we have about 6 or 7 more days to test what's crap and what's not. Though this doesn't include me though.

Despite me hating the current format, at least you know what's good to play. With RR on nats, it's all a wild goose chase when everyone screams Flygon this and Hippowdon that.

Yeah, Australia has it tough. I booked my tickets to Aus nats and then found out that my local RR release event was being delayed to the day of Nationals...... I have no idea how I'm going to get RR cards :(

To the OP: No I don't think it's fair but at least you have 6 days to get cards and play test.

Even though your "prerelease event" was moved to the 24th of May, I'm sure the cards will be sold normally in Swedish shops from the 20th, which is the release date. It's unfortunate, but sometimes prerelease events have to be after the release date.

Germany have prerelease's today and they aren't allowed to play RR at Nats next Week... This is even more unfair, don't you think?

Volt, did the prerelase material (RR booster displays) arrive in time for Germany's events today? We had delays in Sweden/Denmark/Finland/Norway, and I thought the rest of Europe had similar delays too.

In Finland we complained to somwhere and the answer was that we can use DP-PT format in our nats at 23.5.2009. Why are EVERY PRERELEASE THINGS ALWAYS LATE? That should be the question....

Thanks, that's good to know! That means (or should mean) that we're guaranteed to get the cards in Norway in time for the official release date, at least. No reason why we should have it too many days after Germany. =)

This is a very interesting discussion!

Since it is an international topic, I will move it over there for you.
This way, your target audience will be able to contribute to your discussion :)

RR is Legal for Australian Nationals because they will be on Sale 1-2 weeks in stores beforehand >.>

Pre-release events =/= Sales and Nationals Legality.

We had the same issue in MY last year, i forgot the order of events but what happened was we had 9 days to get fimiliarise with the cards, thank god we had a fantastic teammate who bought like 4 boxes so that if we needed cards we had enough to share...... people took advantage of the situation and build rogue decks out of the new set which proved to be a downfall in the end.

I think a similar situation has happened again in MY this year although i am not 100% sure but with regards to UK RR was not allowed which i think was fair since its not officially release yet :)

Now we dont know even if the cards will be out in the stores before nats, our card store says the cards will be coming either 22th of May or 4th of June

POP policy on whether the spring set is legal at National Championships is to allow local distributors to make the decision for their market. We feel that the OP people in each country are better able to make this particular decision than we are.

There are several reasons for this. While we set a date range for Nationals, the exact date is set locally. While there is an official release date, that is the earliest date new sets are supposed to be available, not necessarily the date they will be available. Some markets pick up their orders a little later and some need more time to get the product into the hands of retailers. There are too many variables that POP has no control of for us to make a one size fits all decision for everyone.

In the case of Swedish Nationals the local OP manager is in a no win situation. He made the decision to allow RR at Nationals based on when he was told it would be ready for sale. He announced the decision and advertised the tournament based on that information. If he changes that decision now, he will be changing a rule he has already advertised. Hampus does not think the current situation is fair. However, a player who builds a Nationals deck containing RR based on officially advertised rules will not think it is fair to find out the rule has changed when he shows up to play.

No that´s defenetly not fair to playesr but... because that´s the format, you got to buy cards to do well in the tournament. So if you think the situation on sellers side... thats the ultimate way to make money.

But I think you should know that already. ABBA sang money, money, money already in the 80`s.
