Is Thundurus needed in Zekeel??

Hey everyone! Ive been back and forth about including Thunderus in my Zekeel list. With Battleroads comimg up this Sunday i need a little help with this decision. Its good to start with it and get the turn 1 charge but i have seen my opponents get their pokemon fully charged (darkrai, tornadus EX) and KO my Thunderus with either pluspower, dark claw, etc. So my question is Thundurus really needed?

It really depends on your list. If you can post/pm it, I'd be happy to critique it. Basically, if ur running tornadus/Raikou, they kinda take up ur thundurus spots. 2 mewtwo minimum is still standard. Heck, I'll prolly play a third if I can snag one for less than the $60 they want on the site I have credit with. Bottom line, thundurus fitting is dependent on the rest of the deck.

I stopped running it because it just never seemed to pull its weight. YMMV. I made top 16 at FL States without it..

I used to not run it but since I have I have found it extremely useful and it is definitely the best starter for the deck. Although I haven't used the deck since the release of DE

Thundurus' main selling point was it's strong early game, but also its ability to dominate CMT. With Darkrai and Zoroark as the new entrants into the format and CMT use dropping, Thundurus loses some of its advantages.

You need Thundurus. It immediately gives you an energy advantage turn 1. Not to mention that it rips through CMT, takes out Weavile with a catcher. It fuels your Dynamotor. It's just a great all round card. I can't really think of a reason to drop it atm. I would suggest increasing your Zekrom count by one just so you can use that more against Dark decks.

Everyone is ignoring the fact that you need to consider your local meta.

Thundurus' advantages are absolutely pointless if you're going into a Battle Road / Cities / whatevers full of Groudons and Terrakions.

My builds, I have a hard time not thinking to have 1. Biggest advantage is that it primes the energy pump as an early attacker. It can be used as a late game option to take prizes also.

I personally run Smeargle as a starter instead and it works very well for me.
I also think that it is a great starter though.

If CMT/other stuff that has tornadus in it, such as troll.dec are big in your area's metagame, then I would say play 2 thundurus, 1 at the very minimum. if straight terrakion, darkrai.dec, other stuff that has a heavy line of ex attackers, up the pluspower to 2-3, add in a 3rd zekrom (if you don't have it already), and 1-2 tornadus/tornadus ex. (if you choose to play tornadus ex, you MUST play eviolite. otherwise terrakion players will 2hko with RoA.
