Hey if you dont like the poster, dont put it up, PLAIN and SIMPLE! POP really doesn't care if you use it or not, Its up to league owner if they want the promotion, no need to turn this into a huge controversy especially in a childrens game. Just trash the poster and get over it.

Oh. That person. I thought that was a woman too!
Well, there's a difference between homosexuality and transgender or transvestitism.
A bit on the wild side for a game aimed at grade schoolers.

I think they were going for realism with this one... I mean, would any sort of battle dome kick someone out just because they dressed like the opposite gender? I wouldn't think so...

 I must say I almost laughed when I realized they were making a poster featuring Tucker. I believe that was a brave move on their part.

Sure, we can all say WE aren't bothered by it in any way. But some people/parents might start seeing Pokemon as something that maybe their young children shouldn't be exposed to, maybe because of the 'type of humor' is has, or something along those lines- unlikely case of course, but you have to admit people out there can be somewhat disturbed by this. I'm not saying that is my opinion, but to not be understanding with something like that and just going out and yelling "You're homophobic" isn't going to do any good. ;o
Edit: I give you permission to hate me.

The thing is, I wouldn't be surprised if an "over-protective soccer-mom" would jump on this thing though. I hope not, we have enough censoring on things as it is. Hmm..., this guy reminds me James from the anime though.

To avoid any controversy all you have to do is not put the poster up, trash it, whatever, thats it, no need for anyone to be exposed to anything you feel may be inappropriate. Please people just drop this childish subject, and lets focus and enjoy the game for what it truly is a GAME. No need to tarnish the image of the game by bringing these issues into the game where they have NO place.

Oh don't worry. He'll probably be a girl when 4Kids brings the dub over here, and everyone will just remember him as that when they think back to the poster.

Then again, we don't know too much about him. He might have some sort of story in the Anime like that he is a circus performer, lost his clothes and had to wear whatever the heck he is wearing, or something else.

ok, the dude, i was like "o a chick, ok, thats cool" then i find the name.... and im like "WHOA"(does voice of that surfer turtle from finding nemo) and im like "o well, must be a performer" and im like "that has to be it" so anyway, um, go rent "Phantom of the opera" those people have some weird costumes imo.

but yeah, he weirded me out at first, then i looked down the streets and relized, there are weirder characters in real life than in this game, SO DROP THE ISSUE!!!!!

you all have permission to agree with me. i think everyone is entitled to my opinion :)

Is this the same guy/girl that's on the lanyards thingies? If so, feminine. And no, I don't care about the picture. I think people will see the poster and think "Pokemon" not "there's a questionable figure on that poster." You have to remember that these posters are meant to attract people who dont obsses over every detail of the TCG like we do.

sigh...
do the japanese players have to deal with this? dom's right--this discussion really shouldn't exist.

Yeah....there nothing bad and obscene on this.

My first impression that Tucker does his acrobatics before being introducing himself to the trainers. Honestly he dresses really weird. Even for a performer in the circus o_O.

Better yet i love collecting stuff like that - just send them to me!

I need to see how it looks like. 1st of all, This wasn't the only game to have a transvestite character, the other game was Final Fight. There is a character named poison who is a transvestite.
2nd, That's up to nintendo for bringing a character like that here in the US. Controversey will spread soon.
3rd, FireFighterReborn, I totally agree with you because there shouldn't be a character like that seen by children.

It's way too late to change him or take him out now. They should of thought of that when Emerald came out.
JMHO,
Peter

This is Just as bad as My Pastor Telling me " Pokemon Is Evil, cause they have a cute little lizard (Charmander) turn into a hardheaded, disobeying Dragon (Charizard) "

- Stupid Ash -.-

If that's how he looks in the video game...WHY should NOA/PUI/POP 'have' to change anything in order to 'play it safe' and 'not offend' anyone's latent homophobia? =/ Isn't 'playing it safe' how the movies have been gutted when brought here by 4Kids?

Who says he's a transvestite? It's a _videogame character_; I was unaware sexuality was a part of the GB games, myself.

Good lord...=/ I don't think any of the 'kids' you're trying to 'protect' are going to look at that poster and say "OMG!!11!! that's a transvestite!!!1!! My eyes, they burn...my life is ruined, all because of Pokemon!11!!"

I also find it quite interesting that the objections to this are all being made by non-parents...if anyone should be 'objecting' it should be the parents, shouldn't it?

'mom =/

Before you paste me as a homofobe or a racist guy please understand. I never menast to attack the poster for being of a tranvestite,i was just saying the picture in itself was a little too over the top to show off too kids. Now many players know tucker and his ways as a gym leader and many older players know its not too outrageous if shown in japan but in america i dont know if it sets off the right image to kids. Thats the only reason i set this topic up. I had friends at one time who were homosexual or lesbian or thier own way for whatever reason so i am not gonna start darting off to say: "no outrageous posters in pokemon:. Its just when tucker fills the poster in his way to out there costume its seems it might be a little to much to show off to the kid community. I have decided to pull it till the leauge kit comes around. I do see where many players come from on this and to many this isnet a frantic issue but to some it might be a big issue to jump on. After reexamining it it isent widly offensive but in todays society i just dont want to take any chances of soccor moms or over concerned parents jumping at me if they fell it sets a bad image to kids. Lastly when you see the picture link you see tucker from top of the poster to bottom in that suit.

After seeing that pic, I can see where some people are coming from!

Its all a matter of personal opinion really. In my mind, people should accept transvestites, homosexuals, etc. in our society as it should be open minded. However I know some people who probably would take offense to this, so there's a reason not to put it up.

If you feel at risk by putting it up, don't put it up! That simple. It all depends on your community and people in your area; if you know that people in your area will take offense to it, it's at your discrecion (sp?) to put it up. On the other hand, if you put it up and someone ends up taking offense to it, you can always take it down. It's a poster, not a life-changing decision!

If a couple ppl felt offended by you wearing clothes, would you take them off? NO! People shouldn't cater to everyone else's beliefs like that. Everyone's different, and everyone has different tolerences. Besides, if it effects their kids in a negative way, it's the parent's fault, pure and simple.

At risk for what?
