It is finally happening: Starting this fall, SAME format all over the WORLD!

@Everyone: There is no 'Gym in Japan. Message boards aren't used to discuss the Pokémon TCG in Japan, people communicate directly or write blogs etc. about decks/tournaments.

The fact that cards are not released in the same time frame (we get some before others and stuff) likw what happened when we got both Gardevoir and Gallade at the same time, but the Japanese people did not, it won't be the same metagame. Until movie releases are shortened/ignored in America, it wont ever be the same.

Good point. But at least the format will be the same for Worlds 09 as it has been the whole season in the whole world! :)

Does that mean our age groups are changing to Japan's, or we are changing to theirs?! (Hopefully teh second one as it makes MUCH more sense for the game!)

Tego, the tournament structure: how close is it to the structure that we have?

Probably not, but this is a VERY good time for a nice I told you so to all those who said that my idea of a world wide format wouldn't work.:tongue::lol:
To be fair, it hasn't worked yet

Why does it have to be one or the other?

Because, if PUI get the Japanese format, then we will most likely stick with DP-on for a while whilst accumulating a larger and larger card pool.

If everyone is playing PUI modified, then sets will continue to rotate out each year, leaving a constantly shifting cardpool that is of roughly equal size each year.

I actually think (shock horror) that there are advantages to PUI modified for most players. The big issue is to do with the fact that having one sub (PCL) make the cards and another (PUI/POP) set the format is a bit of a disaster when it becomes unbalanced (yay GG!!).

Why is it such a big deal if our cards are released at the same time or not? As I said before, it's not like PUI countries play against Japan on a frequent basis, it's not as if we'd have to say sorry, don't have those cards, can you please substitute for another?

*Applause* Let's make this format the best one ever.

Yes.

Age groups will also be exactly the same in Japan next season.
You mean they're getiing -10, 11-14, and +15 (determined by birth year of course)?

Thank God, 'nuff said.

That is so... Wow! I can't believe it, they actually did that?! If this is fake I'm gonna be REALLY mad.

The format will be closer than it has been in the past, but Japan gets far more promos then we do. So expect to still miss out on cards that maybe very good that Japan can use. It will be close but it will still not be 100% the same.
