Japanese Gold Star Values?

So I picked up 3 Japanese gold stars (x2 Regice and x1 Registeel) for around $15 (bargain?), and all three of the cards are first edition. I checked eBay listings, and the prices are all over the place.

The Registeel has gone for as low as $15, and as high as $35. I cannot find a completed listing for a Regice, not sure if it is rare, or just not that sought after.

So, since my main way of finding the price is inaccurate, I was hoping someone on here (preferably those who have/do deal with Japanese cards) could give me a somewhat accurate estimate on how much they are worth. I figured picking up 3 gold star cards for under $20 would be a bargain, whether they were Japanese or English.

It is definately a bargain, nice work. Wish I saw that auction :p
Most Japanese gold stars are worth around $25. Obviously ones like Rayquaza and Charizard go for a bit more, but the Regis, Dogs, Gyarados ect. Should fetch you $25. If you are looking to sell them though don't do it through auction. The market for Japanese gold stars is pretty small at the moment, hence why you probably got yours so cheap.

The thing about Japanese cards (at least, vs the same English cards) is that because their release model is different from ours, the prices can be very, very different. Gold stars in English all came out as secret rares in sets with the exception of Espeon and Umbreon, which came out in POP 5 series promo packs (so, still, sort of a set). Espeon and Umbreon break the mold of English gold stars, and cost between $50 and $80 as a result, depending on buyer and seller.

The Japanese versions of these cards were incredibly rare player rewards for a player experience system, so Japanese Umbreon Star is somewhere around... well... according to this guy, $10,000. I've heard estimations that less than 10 exist, or, existed some years ago. I'm not sure if more have been given out or how that worked.

The moral of the story is that the only reliable way to determine the price of Japanese cards is (sometimes detailed) research on their origin.

From what I could find, only certain gold stars were released as player's rewards, and those are the pricey ones. The set gold stars, while they were also URs from their respectable sets, don't seem to go for as much. I was just looking to get a rough estimate of what people think I should expect to get, as Japanese cards are not my cup of tea

On a side note, it would probably be best to delete that current eBay auction link. Whilst I know your intentions are good, the mods may not like the posting of a current auction. Also, I do not think that cards is worth $10K.

That Umbreon is a PSA 10, so it is worth quite a bit, but $10k is a bit too much :p

The Regis go for the lowest of all JPN gold stars, so you didn't get too lucky. Like Houndoom said, you can get around $25 for them. The other gold stars sit around $40 though, with the dogs and Rayquaza/Lati@s ones going for closer to $50, and the Eeveelutions going for higher.

Yeah the gold star. I saw someone trade some really valuable stuff for one.

Yeah she inly did that because she really has been looking fir the card for 3 years and she did not want to miss tgis chance. she traded more in value just a little bit i think charizard japanese gold should have been enough but she also gave a mint nmt espeon players gold star

Correct me if im wrong but werent the evelutions only obtainable throught the point system, while most where obtained through sets and a handful like pikachu star where obtainable from gift sets

So even though my gold stars may not be worth a whole lot, would it be profitable to grade them? The seller provided some nice pics, and they look to be PSA 9-10s. Here are the pics:

While we are on the subject of Japanese gold stars, I also have a Rayquaza gold star (non-1st edition) that I picked up awhile back for $25. I thought that was a steal, but it looks like some guy is price locking them around $40. Would you say that $40 is a more accurate price, or is this guy just low-balling so he can sell his cards quick?

There were 2 versions of Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon. One lot were in the Japanese World Champions pack (which I'm pretty sure was a set) and the other lot were obtained through the PLAY points system.

As for the unlimited Rayquaza star, they have been listed at $40 BIN format for months now, and go for even less at auction.
