Judge Ball

Dear Mike,

A previous post alluded to "judge ball" but I couldn't find anything about "judge ball" in the official tournament rules. You can google "judge ball" and get a general idea of what it is but I was wondering two specific questions:

1. Can it only be used if requested by the opposing player?

2. Do you have a resource which describes how it should be officially implemented in a tournament? (In other words, an official description of "judge ball" that could be shown at a sanctioned tournament if necessary).

1. No, not at all. A judge always uses their own judgement about the needs of moving the tournament along. The guideline is 5 minutes without getting a valid starting hand.

2. We are expecting OP to have those guidelines soon.
