Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Judge support being cut by Nintendo?

Most of the thinking in this thread seems to assume that you feel valued by whoever is above you. If you don't feel all that valued, judge support from PUI might be your "thanks".

Of course, in INTL its different anyhow, we don't have PTOs. That makes it a more curious mishmash of folks with differing agendas and expectations.

I found some posters' thinking a little idealistic. Just because we're all adults that love Pokémon, doesn't make it any less true that we're volunteering to make money for a business. As noted, every person in OP has some motivation for doing so (let us not start any altruism debates). And saying straight out that if you don't like something, don't do it, rather assumes that there is someone else to take your place.

I meant to post this after the first PRs this weekend.
I think the staff cards for these kinds of "low level" events goes a long way toward creating valued staff support and I think it's a great solution.
Not enough all by itself, but in combo with some product, it is a big help to TOs and staff alike.

I will toss my opinion on the Staff Card for the D/P pre release. I think it was great. Very nice for the staff members to get something special for working that event.

I really hope the are continued in the future.

Regarding the Judge support, I have always been one to work for free, not concerned about what I might get for my work.

I actually played my first premier event of the year last weekend. I work for my PTO, so that he can run successful events for the players. He has 2 or 3 Professors the he can say that are there when he needs them and several helpers that are below judge age.

We are not worried about support, although he always has taken care of us in some way. My PTO and I work to help each other, which is the best way, IMO.

We have seen alot of ppl stop working, because it wasn't worth their time, which was a loss for us, but we have made up for the loss and moved forward.

Some people in the Professor program just need to evaluate the reasons they are in it. Are they in this for the game or the stuff?

Well, I gotta say, I've always been a fan of the perks. I also do it for the good of the game, though at times I have made some bad calls. I guess it's more or less you get what you pay for. If I was a PTO, and I had a really good judge staff, I'd pay them more - since they are showing their worth. If as a PTO I was only given 1 box of product for judge support, I probably would give much more preference to the people who have stuck by me in earlier events and are good judges. The newer ones would probably get less, but probably from my own pocket depending upon player participation of course. That's my opinion only of course, and is no way a suggestion, or valid as to how it should be run. Not everyone has the same budget as others. I'm sure many PTO's suppliment their store income with income from pre's and other events. Every case is different. Whether or not you are compensated as a judge, and by how much, will always be up to BOTH POP and your PTO. Hopefully you will get a fair compensation. If not, then by all means talk it out with your PTO - they obviously have the final say.

On the subject of the STAFF cards, I think that was a great idea, and it would be great to get more of those, though I'm sure it costs more to make fewer of those than the regular promos. How much more per card, I'm sure we'll never know, but the idea certainly was a sound one in my books.
