Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

just found on monster.com...

I like this requirement:

Hehe. don't even get me started . But it explains so much... The job descriptions were quite revealing actually.

Meh, my degree will be in Accounting once I finish it next year, but dang, that Product Development one sounds like one I can do.

If you end up in a finance department, you'll know that actually a lot of what you do is precisely in that job description. Its best not to go apply without any experience though.

Remember guys it says relevant experience is a bonus. You do not fail to meet the requirements if you can show from your other work experience how you have demonstrated those competencies.

There's no harm in giving it try. However, it does sound like they're most likely to poach someone from an existing competitor - most likely someone looking to get promoted quickly. Oh well, can't blame them really...

You know, being an Aussie means if the Aussie wants to work in the US, they have to find somewhere to live and all of these horror to get settled :p

^ I imagine so!

You know, this sort of thing makes me think about getting a degree in art. I always put it aside as "unimportant", but it's a case of what of my many intrests I can persue. Still, something to think about when I go to university...

Translation (from my business-world wife)
"Can figure out what the boss wants you to do, even if he/she doesn't articulate it well. And can change on the fly in case he/she does articulate what is to be done but then changes his/her mind."

BTW this phrase is apparently not that uncommon in business job listings...

The job as a planner for events like JAA and the Showdown? That would be awesome!

I am guessing these events are looking to continue in the future.

i just applied, wish me luck!
here is the cover letter.

Dear Pokémon USA, Inc.

I am writing to apply for a position in the your company . After reading the job description, I am confident that my abilities will be a good match for this position.

I have extensive experience in Trading Card Games, being player of Magic the Gathering since 1996 and the Pokémon TCG since 1999. During the time Wizards of the Coast produced the Pokémon TCG, I was involved in their Professor Program as a Master Professor, a Tournament Organizer, and the league leader of a BattleZone league. I was also involved in their Delegate program, where I would help demo their new products at local card shops. I was also part of their demo team for the Duel Masters mall tour in 2003.

I have been on the volunteer staff at numerous conventions: GenCon's (Indy & SoCal), Orgins, and San Diego Comic-Con International (2003-2007). Also, I have been on staff of numerous Pokémon events and Premier Tournaments: Pokémon Rocks America 2005 (San Diego, San Jose), Video Game Showdown 2008, Prereleases, City Championships, States, Battle Roads. I have been the tournament organizer for the Riverside, CA City Championships for the past 5 years. As a tournament organizer, I am very familiar with tournament structures, penalty guidelines, and know how to use the Tournament Operations Manager computer program.

Since I've began competitive tournament play in 2002, I have developed a deep understanding of card game mechanics and game rulings. Some of my accomplishments include: Multiple City Championships, 2004 Arizona State Champion, Top 32 Worlds 2005, Top 16 US Nationals 2006, and finishing with a Premier rating of 1863.59 in the 2007. Also, I have been fortunate enough to win scholorships from tournaments, which were applied to my education at the University of California Riverside, where i earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering the Spring of 2008.

I am currently employed in the Product Development/Engineering department of one of Southern California's premiere lighting company which specializes in the manufacturing of flexible, low voltage rail lighting systems. As an engineer with a , I have contributed to the development of new products and related manufacturing processes through research, design and analysis. I help with the planning, scheduling, cost estimating, supply chain management and the overall monitoring of projects. Along with product development operations and projects, I keep up-to-date of technical developments related to company products and operations.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I have enclosed my resume for your review, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Matthew Yuen

If you get the position doesn't that mean you have to move to Washington?

And you should edit out your POP ID from your post. If it's that low like mine, doesn't that mean you have been a member since 2003, not 2004? EX R/S came out in 2003 for reference.
