Kicker calculation

The kicker triggers are currently being pulled from the wrong number. The correct number is recorded during each tournament upload so it should be a relatively simple thing to correct. However this was not discovered until yesterday so the fix will not make this week’s update. It might be two weeks before we get that corrected but it shouldn’t be any longer than that.

For those who care about such things, the kicker triggers are currently looking at the roster report. The roster report records the age division of each player by looking at the date of birth associated with the Player ID number in our database on Pokemon.com. This means that an incorrect Player ID number or Trainer Club account with bad information can change the age division totals. The standings report puts each Player ID number into the age division that was used during the tournament regardless of how old the website thinks that player is. This means that the age division totals are correct no matter how many bad ID numbers were used to run the tournament as long as the organizer used the correct birth dates when running the event.

So what effect will this ultimately have on overall ratings? Does this mean that, in general, CP totals will go down as a result of this fix? It'll be interesting to see how widespread it is, and how much it inflated CP totals.

If the final number of events to include in the best finish limit is still undecided, I would like to make a case for keeping the limit consistent with what was posted at the beginning of the season. (Keep it at 5.)

I myself, as well as one other person I know, stopped participating in City Championships after placing satisfactorily in 5 City Championships. It would be unfair to players to change the best finish limit for Cities once the process has already begun. Thanks for reading.

This is a relative of the problem that prevents events that are tagged after the results are uploaded from counting. Before the holiday break we tried to correct all these once a week, but this hasn't been done for several weeks now.

The permanent fix that will prevent this from happening at all is scheduled for the end of this week. We will not attempt to fix individual tournaments until next week because we are hopeful that this weeks update will resolve all these errors. The end result should be that all City Championships are subject to a best 5 limit.

This systematic fix won't do anyting about problems related to incorrect Player ID numbers or wrong dates of birth. Those types of problems will still need to be reported and dealt with individually.

Initially, my first read of Pete's post makes me think that, CP totals should go up. It sounds like that when attendance exceeded 32, finishers in 4-8 were not getting their CP points properly credited.

But on the other hand, I suspect that it is more likely that a Senior player has a birthday in the database at Pokemon.com that lists them as a Master, than a Master having a birthday that lists them as a Senior. This would make the Master attendance appear to be over 32 when in fact it wasn't, which means 4th - 8th got Championship points, when they should not have.

I don't think it will be very wide-spread.

So the problem for City Championships appear to be fixed however Battle Roads are now having problems. I won 2 Championship Points from Battle Roads however they are no longer being awarded to me. And I don't seem to be the only problem, my friends have the same thing happening to them as well.

Yeah, I emailed them about the Battle Roads problem. They said it was a universal problem they would have fixed in a few days.

I still have my Regionals points, though.

I'm also missing Regionals and Battle Road points.

As far as what's causing the problem, I'm fairly sure the best finish limit for Premier Events was set at 5, not City Championships. So, it's taking your best 5 overall finishes, not best 5 City's.

Hold off on reporting these errors until Monday. The programmers are trying to find the problem today and part of that involves forcing the calculator to run over and over without bothering to wait for the last iteration to finish. The results this morning are gibberish.
