Hey ya'lls.

I am wanting to know what cards were playable during their time in Modified, and in Unlimited format.

Please fill me in the early days as I do not know much (didnt play back then) and let me know if I miss any during the time I played. I started playing around Unseen Forces.

SER did see a LOT of play. That should definitely be on there.

Neo Sneasel and Neo Slowking were so good they were banned.

Rocket's Zapdos (GC) was good.

Neo Typhlosion, Neo Feraligatr were good archetypes back in the day, along with Blaine's Arcanine.

Neo 3 Entei was good (the one with the Poke-Power), it synergized with Neo 3 Magcargo.

Clefable Jungle.
Misty's Wrath.
Trash Exchange (mostly as a combo card)
Feraligatr NG
Slowking NG

I think you should seriously look at just "gamebreaking" cards, and not just "playable" ones; otherwise, you'll be stuck typing for hours, and the thread wiill have accomplished nothing.

That said, you're off to a good start.

EXTREMELY early in the game's life there was a popular deck with Zapdos/Electrode that worked like some kind proto-ZPS, but nobody really remembers it because it died after Jungle was released.

Clefable Jungle.
Misty's Wrath.
Trash Exchange (mostly as a combo card)
Archie
Maxie

someone explain how those actually did work in their prime?

Also when looking over this, it made me realise, and im sure many of you would - that back in the EX series days, we had FAR more playable cards than we have recently....

Clefable was Zoroark, only more broken, and cost 1 less energy.

Misty's Wrath was a powerful draw card.

Trash Exchange made Neo Genesis Feraligatr a powerhouse before Parasect was released.

Archie and Maxie were the BASIS of the 2004 World Championship winning decks. Archie for Aqua, and Maxie for Magma.

Here's some you forgot. These lists will be more accurate at the earlier sets because I played so many years with Base-Neo stuff. If an evolution was good, I included the previous forms too. Not sure if you were looking for that.

Game-breaking stuff:

Professor Oak abuse (via Computer Search/Item Finder)
(Super) Energy Removal
Lass, Imposter Oak's Revenge, Rocket's Sneak Attack, The Rocket's Trap (pre-NG)
Sneasel NG
Slowking NG

And then Sableye/Crobat/Uxie in MD-on with the current first-turn rules. Each of them shares a little blame for that catastrophe.

Would love to see this list continue throughout all the sets, up-to current. nice walk down memory lane

I have been away from the game for the last 2 seasons, my last set (prior to two weeks ago when i got back into it) i bought and completed was Arcious.

I have since (in the last two weeks) gone back and purchased complete sets of all HGSS and BW block sets.

I miss being a proff and tournament organizer and it is for that reason I'm getting back into it. I have been catching up on the format and this list is kinda neat!

Looking forward to seeing everyoen again at Nats and Worlds again this year:thumb:
