Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Looking for skeleton lists, strategies on some old archetypes

Hey all,

As some of you may or may not know, I'm the head writer on deck archetype articles on Bulbapedia. Basically, I attempt to inform myself about the big decks of an era and, well... write about them. So yeah, if you want what's considered the "standard list" of a deck, along with a strategy writeup, that's what I do on Bulbapedia.

To get to the point, I've found it extremely difficult to get solid information on certain older and a couple newer decks, and I was wondering if the 'Gym could help me out by offering some skeleton lists containing all the key cards along with a short-ish writeup of the strategy. Of course, I'm not going to copy/paste what you've said... I just need a general idea of what the deck was and how it worked. Any help is greatly appreciated, and you can expect me to thank each post that contributes well. :]

Of course, this thread also benefits any 'Gym member interested in lists of some of the older decks. So yeah, here's what I'd like to hear about:
Chenlock (Seen this around... is this what JWittz uses?)
Destiny
Flariados
Ambush
Blaziken RS variants
Absolutions
Speedkrow
Gyarados (yes, the recent one... I never paid attention to it. :x)
HoPe

Also, I need any other archetypes I'm missing. I like to think I have most of the other ones, but anything before Diamond & Pearl is kind of a dark ages for Bulbapedia's archetypes. I have Metanite, Raieggs, Haymaker, Riptide, Conductivity, Beat Up, and a few other ones, but I'm probably missing some major ones.

Any help the 'Gym can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. :D

Chenlock is basically Sablelock with Blaziken FB Lv. X to beat Dialga. Originally, Jason Chen used Blaziken FB so he could Luring Flame Claydols and other Pokemon to disrupt.

Gyarados

Sableye starter, first turn goal is to get magikarp's in hand, and use regice's "regi move" to discard Magikarps to do damage with Gyardos tail revenge attack. Volkners and Junk Arm also help discard Magikarps. Rescue energy is usually the only energy in Gyarados, although depending upon Techs, if Dialga G is used then some steel may be put in. VERY trainer heavy.

Skeleton:

4 Magikarp
4 Gyarados
4 Sableye
2 Uxie
1 Azelf
1-1 Dialga G
1 Uxie Lv. X
2 Crobat G
2 Unown Q
1 Regice (some people say to run 2)

3 Pokemon Collector
2 Volkners
3 Professor Oak's New Theory
4 Junk Arm
2 Broken Time-Space
3 Pokemon Rescue
3 Poke Turn
2 Cyrus Conspiracy
3 Bebe's Search
2 Pokemon Communication
2 Seeker
2 Warp Point

3 Rescue Energy
2 Double Colorless
1 Warp Energy

Absolutions or Speed Spread, is basically a multi-tool. It controls and spreads damage, making Kos easier.

-Jolteons Spread damage
-Absols controls damage, and attacks speading the damage even more.
-Espeon ex devolves pokemon, Vaporeon disrupts heavily, and Umbreon is a pokemon circulator
-Jirachi ex counters MetaNite, by shutting of its poke-powers.
-Rayquaza ex d deals fast damage anywhere.
-Mew ex can use all attacks in play, so if you want to use a tech, you have to just play it to your bench

-Holon engine searched pokemon and drew cards
-Mary's/TV reporters drew cards
-Prof Elms searched for Eevelutions
-Scott got you supporters for several turns
-SSUs allowed you to re-use Eevelutions's powers
-Windstorms countered Cessation Crystals, and some stadiums
-Cursed Stone spreaded damage even further, but also damaged your pokemon.

My list is something like this:

2 Mew ex LM
1 Rayquaza ex d
4 Absol ex
4 Eevee
3 Jolteon ex
1 Espeon ex
1 Vaporeon ex
1 Umbreon ex
1 Jolteon *
1 Jirachi ex CG
1 Holon's Castform

4 Holon Transceiver
2 Holon Mentor
1 Holon Adventurer
1 Holon Scientist
3 Mary's Request/TV Reporter
3 Professor Elm's Training Method
2 Scott
4 Super Scoop Up
3 Windstorm
1 Cursed Stone

4 Darkness Energy
2 Multi Energy
6 Lightning Energy
4 Psychic Energy

There is also an article in Pokegym about Speed SPread/absolutions. It's in Featured Articles.

Most of the decks that I have knowledge about have been/are in the process of being answered, so I'll just add these two thoughts:

Firstly, I don't think HoPe is an archetype. It's a neat deck, but it wouldn't immediately come to mind when thinking of the archetypes of the past few years. Maybe in the future I'll be proven wrong, but for now it just seems something semi-niche thats popularity is a bit overblown due to the people here.

Secondly, great idea. I haven't read over any of the articles, so I can't give notes about their quality, but cataloging like this is a fantastic idea, one that I wanted to implement into my own wiki way back when, but that never panned out. I wish you all the luck in the world, and look forward to seeing what kind of articles this produces.

Bad deck is bad...

Lol, everything is searchable in the deck, what is the point of having a call energy? And quite often, I only need one collector in my hand. Have you even played the deck?

From what I know of the deck (and that is little), there's absolutely no room to play Call Energy, and even then it's not particularly necessary.

You have 7 cards that search for pokemon, with well over half of them being bebe's+radar, this deck can't set up consistently. NOTHING excuses HORRIBLE JUDGEMENT such as this other than complete ignorance, and a total lack of comprehension in basic probability. I have played SP similar to this before, nothing can set up consistently with this list. It's just a bad deck build, and thinking there is any reasonable explanation for it DOES make you a poor deck builder. Top decking is not a strategy, its a crutch, and a flimsy one at that.

Not the time or place guys

You've never played the deck, so dont bash. Fact is, the deck does very well without call energies and 4 collector. More than half the time, with the amount of search cards already in the deck, you do not NEED the calls or the collectors. I have tested them, and they are not necessarily bad, but the deck is better off without.

If you want to double check, you can look it up at 6P.

The variant J-Wittz uses plays with a heavy Smeargle line and a Sableye tech.
