This is my lostgar deck I just put it together and it's really slow. I don't think it can stand up to the current sp decks out there. I was thinking maybe a line of vileplume to slow down my opponent or if there is anything I can do to speed it up. If you have any suggestions please post. Here's my list.

Pokemon 17

4 gastly SF
2 haunter HS Triumphant
2 gengar prime
1 gengar SF
2 spiritomb AR
3 uxie
1 mime jr COL
1 unown Q
1 azelf

Trainers /Supporters24

4 rare candy
4 poke drawer
2 pokedex
1 luxury ball

2 bebes
4 pokemon collector
4 seeker
3 looker investigation

Stadiums 7

4 lost world
3 BTS

Energy 12

8 phychic
2 rescue
2 warp

My strategy is just basic lostgar. Use poke drawer and uxie for a steady draw and rarecandy and BTS for fast setup. Then use seeker to lost zone pokemon with hurl into darkness. I'm not sure if a mr mime would help greatly. With the new rare candy rules the deck will be greatly slowed down. Thanks for the help!

^HAHA how many time have you had to tell someone that they have too many or not enough in their deck Psyduck? XD

I would use no SF, just prime. Take out 1 Uxie, 1 seeker, and 2 pokedex. Then put in 1 bebe's and either 2 PONT or 2 copycat.

Well I think sf is necessary for back and if I add a vile plume line it would become useful for a strong poltergeist. I might add copycat but no PONT because of the huge backup of trainers copycat would supply a bigger draw. Thanks for the help. Do you have any tips for speed?

This is a skeleton build of a decent LostGar deck.

4 Gastly
2 Haunter
2 Gengar Prime
1 Gengar X
1 Gengar SF
2 Tomb(power shuffle)
2 Uxie
1 Unown Q
1 Azelf
2 Palkia G
1 Palkia G X
...19

With this build, its about speed. Run 4 warp energy.

I am NOT saying Palkia is the play, but its a decent idea.

Palkia needs to be dropped to get the last couple in the lost zone. Then there's no need to warp. Run rescue instead and do 3 or 4 BTS. Drop the mime and Spiritomb AR for the spooky whirlpool Spiritomb. You want smeargle as a starter. Forget SF Gengar, run 3 prime and 1 lv x. 2 uxie is enough, don't need 3. Run 3 bebe, 3 collector, 4 seeker, a Palmer's, and 2 VS seeker to get those seekers back. Basically the idea is to drop the spiritombs for hand refresh (better than looker's since they could choose to draw less than 5), seeker up one (and pick up your spiritomb or uxie if you need draw), and lost zone. Drop Palkia for the last couple and find lost world for the win. Since you will be losing on prizes, turn this into a strength by running 3 twins. TRUST ME it works great when you find the palkia g lv x and a lost world with that. If a Gengar gets KO'd advance a smeargle with Q attached and with BTS in play and rescue attached to gengar play him right back down. Portrait, retreat, seeker/spiritomb, lost zone. Good luck.

Oh, btw I have played and tested against SP decks and this won >50% of the time hands down.

Thanks for the long and detailed list. I think I will add a line of palkia G LvX instead of vileplume because it helps speed up my cause and that's getting pokemon in the lost zone. I think 2 bebe is fine and that I should run at least I Palmer. I don't think I have to add smeargle or more than 3 spiritomb as it would take up valuable bench space. I will add twins for that last effort search. Thanx for the help and it's good to know that it might stand a chance against SP. What should I do about the rare candy with the new rule coming out?

You absolutely need at least 3 Twins. Because you will almost NEVER be knocking things out, these are incredibly useful. You also don't really need 4 Seeker, its a little bit overkill. Also, 3 Uxie is a little too much, you've never going to have that much free bench space. Also, you run 2 Gengar Prime. You don't need 4 Rare Candy. This is my list specifically.

Pokemon

4-3-3-1 Gengar Prime (SF, TM, 2 Prime, 1 SF)
1-1 Palkia G Lv. X
2 Spiritomb (AR)
2 Spiritomb (Hand Disruption)
1 Azelf
2 Uxie
1 Mr. Mime (CoL)
1 Mime Jr. (CoL)
1 Unown Q

Total: 23

T/S/S

4 Lost World
3 BTS
3 Seeker
3 Rare Candy
1 Luxury Ball
2 Bebe's Search
4 Pokemon Collector
2 Copycat
2 Judge (Hand Disruption)
2 Looker's Investigation

Total: 26

Energy

2 Rescue
2 Warp
7 Psychic

This list works for me, pretty much. I think its fairly good, but it could still use some work, just like any other list.

Thanks!!!! This is the type of decklist I've been looking to build!!! But one thing I think that it would be better to down size on the two copycat because if we want to disrupt their hand they will have little to no cards. We could replace it with a 2-2 line of palkiaG LVX

Hmmm, haven't quite figured that out yet lol.

I think VS Seeker is the pllay, it combos greatly with Seeker.

Dusk's list is fairly solid...good to play it and critique it.

I hate that new rare candy rule. If we can't find a way to replace rare candy stage 2 decks will be worthless in competitive play. Maybe I could add one more bts and match it with stronger pokedrawer lines that way I could use twins get two pokedrawer and use those to fish out haunter and gengar and evolve.

The new Rare Candy ruling certainly distorts the metagame, but Pokemon TCG is usually changed minimally every time a new season of Pokemon comes out, just to keep things fresh and updated. I would, however, agree that VS Seeker, though situational, is playable in this type of deck.
@ Silver116: Copycat is an optional play, but can be useful in some situations. Just ensure that you run 3 Twins, that is a must. Otherwise, the rest is up to you for techs you wish to use. There are many possibly useful techs for this deck, just use the ones that you enjoy using the most and I wish you the best of luck with your playing.

May I suggest adding a Gengar AR. With the switching effect of his attack, you can switch to Gengar Prime before the check for knockout, so the KO still hits the lost zone. Also, you can abuse Smeargle + Unown Q with his rebounding.

Gengar AR takes two turns to fully set up and is very situational. Besides, it is mandatory that you play a strict 4-3-3-1 Gengar line in any Lostgar. I can see where you're coming from but the card simply takes too long to set up and is not very favorable in a Lostgar list.

I just tested this with my umbreon- houndoom deck and it only got two pokemon in the lost zone and houndoom not only destroyed my hand but also KOed all of my gengar prime! The deck is still slow but I think with your guys help I might be able to speed it up. Thanks for all your help I will also be posting my umbreon houndoom list if u would like to contribute to that also. Thanks again.

I run LostGar as my main deck, so personally I've played/tested nearly 100 games with LostGar. Here's a few suggestions.

I can't tell you how useful Slowking is in this deck. It's essentially a standing Chatot G for 1 less card, EVERY TURN and you can even choose yourself if your top decks are running dry. 2-2 Slowking is a great play in this deck. You can force your opponent into more Pokemon in his hand or keep those useful cards as far away from him as possible. Another great buddy to Mime Jr if your running him.

A heavy Twins line is a must. Since your not taking prizes I would run 3/4 depending on your preference. Nothing like going into your deck for any 2 cards. Definite staple in LostGar.

Also, if you're running Spiritomb TM I would only run 1, but max out Seeker. Most of the time you are either picking up a damaged Gengar or an Uxie, but if the time is right you can pick up Tomb and Spooky Whirlpool for the game.

Wow thanks for the continuous help! I will test both palkia g and slowking to see which one better fits my cause. I did add a strong twins line and ordered a palkia g lvx. Did you play any tournaments with this deck?

Yes, I've played in a bunch of tournaments with LostGar and won 3 of them. My only losses are to Gyarados twice, Sablelock twice and a Drapion X Tri-Poison deck. The tournament I lost I went 0-3 after winning 3 weeks in a row. :( I guess I couldn't win 4 weeks in a row. LMAO!
