LostGar: Does it stand up to the hype?

The Beautiful Think bout Honcrow is, it doesnt care how the cards get to the discard, Example, ive seen Luxchomp with regice in it for the Spiritomb Starts, or if They SOmehow Manage to discard the extra pokemon from play i can pull them back....

But against luxchomp playing palkia and honcrow... little to no chance, its all about timing. The minute they drop the Lucray lv x, without a second lux on bench, i'm going to play my palkia, they will then scramble to poketurn everything to get it off bench, it goes to their hand, where i will lost zone it... if not i will palkia G them, if they spray, i will poketurn and wait for the combo again... fact is, its not if i will catch them... its when, no SMART luxchomp player is going to poketurn ANYTHING when i have gengar ready, because unless the find a way to play multiple bebes and sp radars im only going to lost zone it...

not to mention the first things players consistently give up in azelf uxie and crobat... no no flash biting, no uxie lv x and the deck slows down

im pretty sure dialgachomp is more then a 'slightly unfavorable' match up

From my testing results, I don't think so.
They stop you from playing lost world, so while they are doing 10 damage per turn you can do 40 damage per turn.
Also, lost zoning their DGX will prevent them from tanking for a long time.
It's not straight foward unfavorable, if you think so please state reasons.

ok i have built this deck and i teched in 1-1 krow SV because gdos is big here in NJ, USA and if i can get krow out i can easily get 2 karps from discard into lost zone. it is faster than using the deevoluter and it makes them more likly to deck out and if u can get 3 karps in LZ they better be scooping lol

Been testing lostgar for awhile like most people. This was my list so maybe it may help others with an idea or two.

25 Pokemon
4-3-2-1-1 Gengar
4 Spiritomb
2-1 Uxie lv X
1-1-1 Vileplume
1 Unown Q
1 Azelf
1 Mewtwo
1 Mewtwo lv X

24 Trainers
4 Pokemon Collector
4 Seeker
3 Twins
3 Bebe's Search
2 Looker's Investigation
1 Pokemon Communication
1 Luxury Ball
1 Palmer's Contribution
1 TM Devoluter
2 Lost World
2 Broken Time Space

11 Energy
7 Psychic Energy
2 Warp Energy
2 Rescue Energy

Pretty basic list. Think the deck gets too much hate cause of all the hype lost world got. IMO Mewtwo covers a lot of mewtwos flaws and is much Betta then palkia Lv x was.

PokeGym hype has a 100% kill rate on all unproven decks.

Remember Darkrai LV X? AmphyTric? TurnCruel? Flygon/Hippowdon? No?

Exactly.

im building a RoseGar deck with Genegar Prime Gengar Lv X and Gegnar SF but on top of all the seekers and lost worlds all that good stuff i added roserade which lets you poison the defending pokemon from the bench with a budew his poke power is he cannot be attacked by a poisoned pokeomn his attack buddy buddy requires no energy its called buddy buddy and lets you choose any pokemon from your deck its a great set up hasnt failed me :) but your deck list has helped me thank you very much! :D

Also if your like me that and you dont have 2 Gengar prime use Rescue energies i loaded rosegar with 3 Rescues and have haunter with an energy on standbye it will give Gengar endless power!

I'm not sure why nobody has thought of using girantina broken space from platinum. Just knock out for prize cards with him and leave gengar on the bench. All of the pokemon he knocks out go to the lost zone. So you start out playing the deck to win like normal but if something goes wrong and girantina is knocked out you can just throw gengar out there and hurl what is left into the lost zone. kindof like a back up win.

I just built this deck and i havent lost yet although i havent played luxchomp yet. Im still tweaking it tho because i seem to have to many cards that end up staying in my hand. I also thought about the Garitina and running just a 1-1 set. The hype is really killing me here cuz ppl around my area are terrified of the deck even tho its really not as good as they think. I agree with the there being to many twins in the deck because they end up being dead draws early in the game because alot of ppl know not to kill the spiritomb i play first. Otherwise great article we will see how i do in regionals lol.

Can this be changed to be played in HGSS on?

It can, and actually was. I believe 3 separate people made top 128 at US Nats (Masters) with Lost World decks. I personally faced one of these decks in my 8th round, and it was an extremely close game (even though my deck ran very few Pokemon). A good player with Lostgar can be pretty scary.

Lostgar has gone from being ridiculously over hyped, to dangerously under rated.

Well to be fair, Zekrom ended up doing alright even though there was tons of hype surrounding it...

Zekrom performed as well at US Nats as Lostgar did, and the history of hype behind both of these decks was nearly the same (though Lostgar player's did get a dose of reality once STP's happened). So yeah, I'll say that Zekrom did well. For the amount of attention it got, however, I'm not impressed.

Zekrom with Eviolite, however, looks to be pretty good. And in defense of the card creators (since I still have a sour taste in my mouth from SP's), it's nice to see cards coming out that are decisively defensive-based rather than offensive-based. That is, they don't speed the game up (Energy Gain, Broken Time-Space, Expert Belt, Gyarados, Uxie) or create divisive states of game (Power Spray, Mesprit) but rather slow things down.

Sorry, I know that was a totally unrelated tangent, but I haven't had a lot of time to post on the Pokegym lately, soo.. yeah...
