am i the only one who has noticed that every promo, every card in the trainer kit, and every card minus 2 in the POP 6 packs are nothing but reprints
and nearly all of them are worthless reprints (pararisu? 4 times?! ok...)
i remember trainer kits and POP packs giving us a few cards that were actually USEFUL and hard to get for newer players, which was kind of the point for their existances
am i missing something here? wats the deal? is it POP? or PUI?

Dunno who to blame, but I do agree that their Promos and POP packs are a bit lacking. We could do less with reprints and more with useful unique cards that encourage people to attend league and stuff.

Ya, I've been using most of the POP cards for proxies in my decks ;p

I'd love if we got some more useful cards like the Lucario.

I really don't understand why they continue to print bad cards as promos when they could just reprint staple cards like Cessation Crystal,Castaway and Chingling =/

I think the answer is very obvious and easy. In POP Series 1 - 5, they included cards from the Ruby & Sapphire universe - the Hoenn region - and could for each set pick cards from a bigger and bigger pool of lavailable cards. POP Series 6 saw the start of the Diamond & Pearl era, and since the available trainer card pool was so small, they went with all that they currently had. Which at that time probably was the few reprints they had in Japan.

I'm sure POP 7, 8 and 9 will get increasingly more interesting ...

    P6 is horrible.

Actually, I find one thing improved. They reprint most of the Lv.X cards in tins, making them affordable! PUI used to just put a bunch of new junky stuff in like the legendary ex birds and the RSE trio of Groudon and friends. Much is worse, but something is better.

by doing this, only a couple cards in modified are going to hold ANY value. This dramatically drops value of cards, and for players/sellers like myself, this is a BAD move.

I'm going to have to disagree with this. The Lv.X cards in the tins have different artwork than the original cards from the set. The values of the original card and the tin version will probably remain separate, at least to collectors who keep up with pokemon product releases and know the difference. I did a quick search of completed listings on ebay and found that Infernape Lv.X #121/130 still sells for $20-30, while the tin promo sells for $5-15. And sellers will always have a couple months when new Lv.X cards will be available exclusively in boosters of the set they came from.

I'm more disappointed in the probabilies introduced in the Pop Series. Pop Series are entirely meant for players. Most kids I know could care less about getting a Pop pack for 15 points worth of League effort (about 2-4 hours worth or playing) just to get a couple junk commons.

Nevertheless, I do like the idea of some reprints in the Pop Series because it occassionally brings back decent trainers and energies. Briney, Fan Club, and Heal Energy come to mind.

The time for the Ex series is almost at an end my friend. Don't go all Emo about how they did not print Holon Transiever or Pidgeot from FRLG. The time for reprinted Ex series cards is long past.

POP6, well, I will admit I expected a bit more from it. Whilst it was a disappointing set, you must take into consideration that all the DP1 Lvl. X's and the Lucario Lvl. X from DP2 ARE coming out in tins. You cannot expect every single POP set to contain all the uber h4x cards that we all know and love. Let alone a whole heap of Lvl. X's and Ex's and Holon Engine's and Dunsparnces and Pidgeots and Dragtrodes and...Well...The list can go on forever.

From my point of view, POP6 did not need to be a great set, but we all wanted it to be.

p6 lucario is nice for new players.
I also like who there is a rare in every pack.

This thread is a joke imo, it isnt because the set need DP era cards and it certianly isnt POP/PUI fault. I know for a fact, that Mike and all of the people at POP/PUI know exactly what the players want, but are usually handcuffed by what PCL and Japan will let them release. Trust me, they try very hard to get us stuff we want, but a lot of times that is were they are denied what they really want. I would think Mike and the rest of PUI/POP most likely expect reaction like this based on what has happened previously. They do a great job. Just see how much Pokemon has grown since PUI/POP took over and that should be all you need to know.

Don't put words in people's mouths.
Steve did not mention bringing back format dominating cards like those two.
He mentioned cards that are very useful in some decks and would be welcomed back into Modified.
Personally, I was hoping for either Briney or Rainbow Energy. General utility cards like that are not at all like asking for Transceiver to come back.

To be honest. POP/PUI is doing a great job.

    It is when POP/PUI have to go through;

    • [*]Distributors that run the OP in the Asia-Pacific
[*]Distributors that are as disorganized with distributing as they are with OP

    That makes them look bad.

It is not PUI/POP's fault that Australia keeps eating every single OP manager alive. Even if by chance they deserve it.

I get sick and tired of people here in OZ coming to be and saying "aww this is unfair why have we only just gotten the Worlds 2005 decks" and "why do we neva get events like BR and stuff" and all the like. I guess I would have to say this now.

The problem lies not with Croftminster, nor with the OP managers who for some reason seem to control distribution in the first place. The problem lies with the constant arguing and fighting, and the destruction of Leagues and Communities that is caused by it. Whilst they are busy mopping up the mess, they cannot get the stuff they need to done and boom. We miss out.

While sure, OP managers make mistakes. Or maybe they just do it because they hate the person. But deal with it. If you were stupid enough to get yourself INTO that position, then surely you can deal with it.

And in all honestly, I would be voting for POP/PUI to take over distribution and/or OP here in Australia. The disorganization and total bloodbath that OP and distribution in Australia is right now...Well...It is worse than it has ever been.

We are only just starting to get Mysterious Treasures right now.

But hey. Stuff happens. Whether or not it continues on like that or whether it gets fixed is another story.

Getting a bit more on topic now. I will agree with Drew entirely and completely. They DO try, but most of the time to no avail. Just be thankful you actually get OP and Pokemon Cards at all. In some countries, in fact, alot of countries, do not get them at all. Boohoo if your favourite Holon Transiever or favourite Stadium does not get printed. You should at least realize that POP/PUI TRIED.

I was not putting words in peoples mouths. And yeah I was hoping for Rainbow Energy to be honest. I was giving an example based on all the complaints I have been hearing. 4 out of every 5 complaints that I see or hear are about how Holon Transiever or Pidgeot or Dunsparnce should have been in POP6.

You were responding to Steve's post using complaints brought up by others in different threads as if he were making the same complaint.
That was putting words in his mouth.

Also, we are not discussing OPs in this thread. You are welcome to start a topic to do so, if you wish. But it is off topic here.

what i made this topic about was the new players at my local league, who are the ones who benifit the most from POP packs
usually, i go and buy a few trainer kits and load up on POP packs so i can give cards away to help newer players at my leauge, and at local tournoments
seeing as how with the exception of TWO cards (which arent that good to begin with) every card is a reprint, it would appear i am better off simply buying boxes
i wasnt asking for trans or pidgeot or some other ridiculous card that isnt going to be reprinted krucifer, no one else was either
i was asking for cards like castaway, or rowans, or tv reporter, cards that can help a newer player who doesnt have nearly as many cards as an experienced player
i was just like "WTH?" with all of this, because when we are getting 4 variations of parcharisu with the same worthless attaks, and 4 different versions of each of the DP starters, its a cause for concern

Well, it does stop people getting stupidly rare cards and taking advantage of that fact and selling them on ebay... and then crippling the average 'player' or 'collector'.

I take back my comment. I just found out that every Pop 6 pack contains a rare, at least at our league that's what everyone is getting. I guess rares are now commons, uncommons are now rares, and commons are now uncommons.

Weird, in a good way, I guess.

It's an error. I'm sure they are going to fix it for later seasons.
