Lugia LEGEND in a EX-heavy metagame

I still wonder why the player played Kyurem when Lugia OHKOs everything..

And yes, Lugia legend only gives up one prize because it doesn't have the 2-prize rule written on it.

I am guessing Kyurem compliments Lugia best. Even though both are Water-Types, they possess different Weaknesses. Lugia already has the "big OHKOing Attack" covered, while Kyurem covers spread and provides a solid back-up hitter via Outrage.

Do you know if they had any other supports at all? Eelektrik? Typhlosion? Did they seem to mostly have prism and rainbow energies? Was Indigo Plateau ever played?

Wondering if RDL would be good at all in this.. It could just create more inconsistency but it could also give legend box a higher success rate

I think the deck would play Indigo Plateau. No, the deck doesn't run Eels or Typhlosion, just Lugia, legend box. Although Electrode might be a good addition.

RDL gets one-shotted by Mewtwo, and can't ohko any EX except Shaymin and Mewtwo.

But it could with one glaciate from Kyurem
Since it is also a Legend and uses the same energy it may be worth testing

Kyurem is super-handy in this format due to Glaciate. Against decks that rely on mid to low HP support (Elektrik / Celebi), a quick Glaciate can put immense pressure on a player.

A Lugia LEGEND rogue deck (no idea what the engine is) recently went 5-1 in swiss in a certain State Championship out of the US and got beaten in top 16. From what I know, the deck focuses on one-shotting EXs, with or without Eviolite, with Lugia LEGEND's 200-damage attack.

I would just like to know what kind of engine could this deck have run to be so successful? Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

He is from Singapore not from US. He uses Lugia Legend.

Someone using a Lugia deck would need something other than the Lugia or else they would auto lose due to having no basics in their deck.

That's true, but I believe the player used Lugia because it's easier to get energy on it (using its Poke-power). Without any other energy acceleration (other than Legend box, which isn't exactly reliable), it's harder to charge up RDL and attack with it consistently.

It might make the deck more inconsistent at setting up Lugia LEGEND, but the question is does the overall deck more consistently win with Rayquaza & Deoxys LEGEND added in? Don't forget that if RDL is finishing something off with Ozone Buster, Space Virus will trigger and it's player will take an extra Prize. Thus in terms of Prizes at least, one may break even.

This whole thread has me wondering if LEGENDS are underplayed for the format; with the support we now have quite a few are surprisingly devastating. We get a problematic scenario: if LEGENDS were played en mass, they may balance out Pokemon EX, but until they are played en mass, they appear to be less effective than the Pokemon EX. Plus there is no guarantee they will work if played heavily, anyway.
