Luxchomp Counters

Can anyone help me counter Luxchomp?I've tried a 2-2 line of Donphan, but it's a little inconsistent and I get destroyed before set up. I use manectric as a tech, but they just dragon rush that away.

a 1-1, 2-1, or 2-2 Mewtwo Lv.X (assuming they dont run a 1-1 DGX, which I havent seen many do). If you rosy's for 2 Mewtwo and throw them both down at the same time, they're done for.

Thats why you being the smart anti-luxchomp player wouldnt fill up your bench with unnecessary stuff.....

I'm assuming you speaking of non-sp decks (though promocroak and ambipom G are great counters to luxray and garchomp respectively.)

But other than that, Donphan, Machamp, heck even Flygon (if Garchomp can't get his energy attachments fast enough) serve as good counters to Luxchomp. Nidoqueen works great too as a soft counter seeing as Luxchomp is like a lot of other SP decks and relies on weakness and cheap KOs to get rid of pokemon (their damage cap hovers around 80-90 due to dragon rush plus crobat drops). So you can heal away all the damage they do with big HP hitters. (lol, you would not believe how hard it is to KO a Gengar lvX when playing luxchomp)

If you run DCE, or some other form of Energy acceleration, Ditto LA is worth a thought. At least that way you could use Dragon Rush on a benched Garchomp C or Luxray GL for a bit of disruption. Situational, though.

Your forgetting one small yet crucial factor;

No deck would run more then 1 mewtwo lv X and no more then 2 basic mewtwo.

With the aid of DCE in LuxChomp, a single Flash Bite and Dragon Rush will KO that mewtwo before it even gets a chance to set up.

Mewtwo X IS a good SP counter, but it has the weakness of being slow to set up.

Lol ^.^
Rumble Mewtwo is probably the best mewtwo simply for what xcfrisco said. They have to use more resources to get it out of the way.

Oh look at that....
Hadnt seen that mewtwo before.

Well, why not?
Why conserve recources if you will lose?
What I mean is, if mewtwo X is the problem, then its our job to use whatever it takes to defeat it.

Or let me ask this;

You wouldnt?

In games I've seen against luxchomp one of their first targets is usually your draw support. You could play bench shield or bench shield+manectric, but then you'll need to watch out for the bright look. Spiritomb definitely slows them down. Cynthias feelings can offer you a chance to come back once they execute your claydol.

Cynthia's feelings, Spiritomb and a bulky stage two are the best LuxChomp counters. Most people will be prepared for Mewtwo so it tends to be a waste of space. LuxChomp is so effective because it wrecks your setup easily but if you play four Tomb and three Cynthia you have a much better chance against it.

Rumble Mewtwo doesn't recover if they poison him with Crobat/Skuntank (could happen). If you go 2nd, you can get Mewtwo Lv. X out before they can play their Garchomp C Lv. X down, and certainly in cursegar, they won't be able to throw E-Gains down so it won't matter anyways.
