Well I've always wanted to try out BanDoom but was never able to get my last Banette Ex I needed for the deck. So Josh helped me out in getting one borrowed from Mike, but luckily I was able to get one later. Had my buddy Jin help me out in finalizing the decklist and I was ready. So David and I were planning on either going with Jose or Josh depending on how things turned out during the week. Jose wasn't gonna be able to take us, so Josh wanted to head to Magnolia...so we tagged along. The weather was really bad on the way there, we stopped while it was really bad because it was getting dangerous. At least things cleared up when we got there, and then we got ready for the tourney.

I'm horrible with names, if I played you and don't have your name...please let me know so I can put it on here. :)

Round 1
Dragonite Ex d
He was telling me he hasn't played this deck much so he told me don't be surprised if I mess up a lot. I made sure to explain everything to him and to not confuse him much. I was able to get out my Banette Ex pretty quick while he wasn't able to get much and it was over.

1-0

Round 2
Lee - RaiEggs
Me and Lee have had our battles before and this was another good one. Banette's worst enemy is Raichu d so I did everything I could to get rid of the Pikachu/Raichu d's. We were going back and forth, Curse Stone and Crystal Beaching each other. In the end I didn't have much left, and I noticed most of my Energies were gone. So I went out there with Houndoom and tried for Paralyzing. Time was called and I was able to get Paralysis 3 turns in a row for the game.

2-0

Round 3
Alton - JynxFett
I get the worst start from my deck...Magnemite. So its stuck out there and I was finally able to get my Bench...but he had Wobbuffet out already. After that it just went downhill from there, not drawing the Switches I needed and Pure Power damage counters everying...that was the end for me.

2-1

Round 4
Flariados
Never played against Flariados with BanDoom before so didn't know wut to expect. I get a lone Houndour start and he had a lone Spinarak. He get tails on Poison and Paralyze, so thats saved me. But if he would have used his Great Ball he had his first turn...he would have won. I didn't get anything and just Poison Spinarak. He gets his Eevee and more Pokemon he needs, Spider Traps my Houndour. I'm able to get setup after that, those pesky Eeveelutions getting to me. But I finally come out on top by being able to KO his lonely Flareon Ex for the game.

3-1

Round 5
James Sweet - Flygon Ex d/Eeveelutions
Another deck I hadn't playtested that much against, but was lucky to get a Turn 1 Banette Ex. Early on I made sure to take out as many Trapinches as I could. This was another good game, we were going at it, his Umbreon Ex was really taking it to me. I was able to get Setup by using my Safeguard Banette, was able to win in the end. Me and James met again in the Top 8 knowing wut to expect from each other.

4-1

Me and Josh were able to make it to the Top Cut and luckily we didn't have to face each other. I was surprised because out of the Top 8 there was 5 Flygon Ex d variants...so this should be interesting.

Top 8
James Sweet - Flygon Ex d/Eeveelutions

Game 1
This game was another good one, just had to watch out for that dang Umbreon Ex. Got Banette Ex out pretty quick and starting getting some prizes. He got out Umbreon Ex which made matters worse, but I made sure to have Crystal Beach out to stop 120 on my Banette Exes. I was able to win this one with my lucky flips in my favor.

1-0

Game 2
I got Banette Ex out pretty quick as well, but he was getting setup pretty good. He had me on the ropes again with Umbreon Ex, but I used Houndoom to put more damage on him and hopefully Paralyze to KO with Banette Ex. His Scoop Up rolls helped him earlier but I was came out on top after he noticed there was nothing left he could do. Very good games.

2-0

5-1

Top 4
Tina - Flygon Ex d

Game 1
Well I played Tina at the last Houston area CC and lost, so it was time for revenge. I was able to get out Banette Ex out pretty quick and started taking out Trapinches. Took me a while to get Houndoom, so I just started Powering up another Shuppet just in case. My lucky Reversal flips helped me out in killing a Latios Ex d which would prove to be an annoyance later. I was able to win after getting setup so quickly.

1-0

Game 2
I was able to get setup pretty quickly but didn't have much draw, so I depended on Sableye to help me out in seeing wut will help me coming up. My Safeguard Banette helped me against her Latios Ex d. This game was pretty close, she only had 3 left and was gonna be able to take 3 in one Psychic Pulse...but I luckily brought out my Safeguard Banette to help me. I was then able to take out her Flygon d and Ex one which left me with 1 Prize left, she brought out Chimecho d knowing it was the end in all fun. GG.

2-0

6-1

Top 2
Ty - Flygon Ex d/Eeeveelution d

Game 1
Played Ty a couple of times over the years, and I've never beaten him...so I was hoping luck would be on my side this time. I got set up pretty quick and starting to try and kill as many Trapinches as I could. My flips weren't on my side that much, but I was able take the game on a Cyclone Energy for a benched Chimecho d.

1-0

Game 2
We went all out this game, had a lone Sableye start which didn't help much...only against Castform. I got out Banette Ex soon after, and thought it would be over soon. But he got Mentor and started getting set up. After getting Paralyzed a couple times from Espeon d, I was able to KO it and turned the tide. Ty didn't have much in the end, and the game was over soon after. GG.

2-0

7-1 Overall (10-1 Games)

"Whaddaya mean you can't read music?!"

"Can you?"

"No."

Good goin', Frank. I'm hoping I can win my last cc next week :p

hacks i swear (i mean grats). Stupid flygon decks all over the place it was annoying even though i was using a flygon deck also with techs, of course i had to face ty in the top 8, no energies for 3-4 turns ftl. My only losses of course were to flygon decks lol. Atleast for the next cook event next weekend i have another tech for these stupid flygon decks all over lol like what 1 outta every 2 decks was flygon

Dang dice, they helped out a lot in the other games...last one not so much. Thnx everyone, hope to at least try to win another. :)

Good job on the win!

Flygons were indeed everywhere, they're terrifying. It didn't help that my Ariados were weak to psychic, ouch!

I’ll just add my tourney report to Frank’s excellent report:

Deck:
Pokémon:
2 Trapinch δ
2 Trapinch δ
2 Vibrava δ
1 Vibrava δ
1 Vibrava δ
3 Flygon ex δ
2 Flygon δ
1 Chimeco δ
1 Eevee (energy evolution)
1 Espeon δ
3 Holon’s Castform

Trainers:
Holon Engine:
4 Holon Transceiver
3 Holon Mentor
3 Holon Adventurer
2 Holon Researcher
2 Holon Scientist
2 Holon Farmer
1 Holon Lass

3 Warp Point
1 Mr. Stone’s Project
3 Rare Candy
2 Windstorm
1 Island Hermit

Energy:
4 δ Rainbow Energy
4 Grass
6 Psychic

I don’t think anyone needs an explanation of how the Flygon ex δ deck works. I tech’d in the Chimeco δ to get back energy and use my Holon Supporters for “free.” I also added the Espeon δ to heal my pokémon turn after turn.

Round 1: James B. (the hardest working young man in pokémon) – Bandoom
I thought “oh no, I’m Bandoomed to start 0-1.” James gets things going pretty quickly and has me down three prizes before I can even get two energies on a Vibrava. I proceed to confuse him, and he has the chance to (practically) win the game with a flip. He retreats instead setting up a whirlwind reversal of fortune in my favor. I win on prizes. James made the call. Things would have gone even worse for him if he had flipped tails, so I can understand the play.
1-0

Round 2: JJ Sweet, Patriarch of one of the better pokéfamilies in the area. – Flygon ex δ
In this mirror match the game usually goes to the player who can get either a Flygon δ or Flygon ex δ going first. I did. I got ahead, stayed ahead, and pulled away for the win.
2-0

Round 3: Trent C. – Flariados
Trent has had it out for me ever since I beat him in the finals of the Aqua/Magma Pre-release on his birthday. I don’t think I’ve even taken a prize from him since. He has a lone Spinarak against my Trapinch. I evolve into Vibrava T2 and have an energy, nice game.
3-0

Round 4: Tina M. – Flygon ex δ
She’s running the tech’d version with Fearow δ. She gets going first, and I don’t have a chance.
3-1

Round 5: Lee W. – Rai-eggs
It always seems to come down the Lee and me at these tourneys. We’re both 3-1 with no guarantee of getting into the top 8 without a win. Lee plays his deck about as well as can be. The match is drawn out and methodical, but Lee can’t escape the fact that his pokémon just don’t do enough damage or have enough hit points to hang with mine.
4-1
I finish 4th behind Alton, Tina, and Frank

Quarterfinals: Josh B. – Flygon ex δ with a Lati@s lock
Game 1: I get going before he, and things go pretty much the way one expects them to go in a mirror match. I win.
Game 2: This one is much more drawn out. I’m pretty sure he has me at the very end with a Rayquaza ex δ poised to take out my damage laden Flygon ex δ on the bench, but he only has the energy to either power up the Rayquaza or retreat the active but not both. It was my only chance to win a very close game against a good trainer. I win to move to the semis.

Semifinals: Phillip T. – Flariados
Game 1: He starts with the lone Spinarak and gets tails. I don’t think TO Mike even had a chance to tell us that our hour had begun.
Game 2: Phillip plays the deck about as well as can be expected given that he is facing his weakness. He just plain outplays me to force a third game.
Game 3: Once again he is completely outplaying me, but my advantage is keeping me in the game. He miscounts the number of prizes left and sends up a Flareon ex with too much damage on it when I warp point him. I get the knock out for my last two prizes and a trip to the finals.

Finals: Frank G. – Bandoom (more like I’m bandoomed on this one)
Game 1: He gets going pretty fast, but I manage to ride his poor luck on flips and claw my way back into the game. I’m pretty sure I have him, but he pulls out a Cyclone Energy from nowhere and picks off my Chimeco for the game.
Game 2: I’m still blown away by the crushing defeat in game 1. He gets a bad start, but I just can’t get anything going. He methodically whittles me down one poké at a time. It’s no shame to lose to a fine player playing his deck well.

Maybe I’ll tech in a few cards for this Saturday or go another way for the last CC of the season.
