Malamar (Contrary) + Flame Orb

Hey,
First time posting here in the VG threads so if I break the rules please forgive me.

I was EV training a Malamar with Contrary for a trollsy kinda team and was struck by the thought of Flame Orb on Malamar.
Burn status condition reduces attack by one stage, so would contrary then instead raise it by one stage for the burn? Or is contrary only effective on moves/abilitys that state "(stat) was lowered" etc?

Wondering if a flame orb would work with contrary.

Flame Orb doesn't work like that unfortunately to trigger Contrary, it's things like Superpower that trigger Contrary.

Okay, given that I think my final set for Malamar will be:

Malamar
Contrary || Adamant || Leftovers
252 HP || 252 Atk || 4 Spd
Psycho Cut
Night Slash/Foul Play
Superpower
Substitute/Topsy-Turvy/Swagger
